Boyle has been keeping to himself as much as possible since he's arrival here. Sticking to only going out at night and more or less haunting the less populated places of the Mansion. Old habits are hard to break after all and he's still not quite used to not being seen as less than dirt by the livebloods

So here's a kid who actually isn't that much of a horror fan, and personally thinks zombie movies are dull, but we digress. He's busy reading a interesting historical fiction novel until he suddenly looks up and sees Boyle.

Now he's just tense because it's an actual zombie. And he's wondering if he should run or scream or what.

Boyle turns, book open in his hands, and glances up at the feeling of being watched. He frowns, muscles working only on the unruined side of his face, and he quickly turns his back.

"Excuse me. Remember it's a library though, so please don't scream."

Cal is still very creeped out though.

"Are you thinking of eating me?"

He thinks about that statement for a while, that sounds stupid.

Boyle manages to not sigh and only shakes his head. The boy could be Ashby's age, but alive. And clearly a bit quicker.

"No. I'm not going to eat you or anybody." A bit of a joke before he can stop himself. "I'm on a diet."

Cal isn't sure that Boyle is lying just to make him let his guard down.

"Then what do you eat?"

Boyle shakes his head. "I don't eat anything," he says. "My digestive system doesn't work."

"...That must be tough." Cal notes.

"Only if I actually eat something. Are you a bit less likely to scream now, or should I continue standing still?" Boyle had learned that sudden movements when around jumpy livebloods tended to result in screaming at best and sudden attacks at worst. Best not to take chances.

"I don't know. Move and we'll find out." Cal replies.

Boyle lifts an eyebrow at the kid, then moves to set his book back on the shelf before picking up another.

"Are you feeling terror and concern ... that I might bore you to death? Or should I start... saying 'brains'? Perhaps that would help."

"No that's fine. Stay there and don't say brains."

Yeah, he's shocked that he met a zombie capable of sarcasm.

Boyle chuckles softly and opens the book in his hands to scan over. "I believe I can resist the urge," he teases softly.
