Time lost and days forgotten

Pack slung over his shoulder, a breathtaking young man with moon-white hair runs up the front steps of the mansion, like someone who’s excited to come home after a brief vacation. Halfway up, he stops, eyes widening and enthusiasm cooling as he realizes that this isn’t quite where he expected to be. Things are different ( Read more... )

We're not sure where Brienne lives right now - she might well be on the way to moving out and setting up shop with her boyfriend (!) and dragon (!) those are two different beings, we assure you.

At any rate, she was on her way out of the Mansion, and so here is one rather large, un-pretty shieldmaiden, with a freckled face, large hands, horse-teeth, strawy hair, and a very, very silly grin.

The earthquake may have messed up the Mansion, but it changed her life - and in good ways.

"My apologies," she says to the youth at the door. "After you." And only then she realizes.

"... are you new come?"

"I am, I suppose." Alcuin looks up at her and smiles. No D'Angeline, this one, but Alcuin likes her grin. He steps inside, giving her a polite little bow. "Alcuin no Delaunay. I have been here before, but..." He paused, wistful, and looked around the changed room. "I fear that was quite some time ago."

Brienne blinks - she's never met someone who claimed to be returning. That's a whole new level of strange, to her.

"... Brienne of Tarth," she says, stupidly. "... I've been here a matter of years. Is there aught for your assistance?"

She's staring with her big blue eyes. Can't help it. So. Pretty.

Years. She'd been here years, which meant he'd been gone years, at least.

"Years," Alcuin repeated, and swallowed, making himself accept that. "No, thank you. I think it's safe to assume that the rules here haven't changed substantially. If my room is no longer intact, I shall find a new one."

He didn't mind being stared at, and hardly noticed it. Returning his smile to where it belonged, he drew himself up, leaving his worries behind. "Thank you for the offer. It's very nice to make your acquaintance."

Icarus is healing quickly, thankfully, and has been spending much of his time tending to his adoptive mother. Too much loss has seen him being rather ... attached, but he's out for now, in the kitchen and making a small lunch for them both.

He will recognize the family name if given, though we know that Alcuin will not know Iggy.

Here to bring brother to sister.

As soon as he was settled in his room, Alcuin headed downstairs to the kitchen. He felt at home in the mansion's kitchen. For him, it was the heart of the place, since he spent his days baking and reading. Energetic and enthusiastic about meeting new people--although he truly hoped to meet some of his old friends, and was starting to become concerned about how long he had been gone--he stopped curiously at seeing Icarus. Someone else he didn't know.

"Hello," he said, head tipped curiously to one side.

The wing not bandaged tightly pulls in closer to his back at the new voice and Iggy turns slightly towards it. "Hi. Hungry? There's plenty to share if you want some." It's a simple mild curry and rice.

That the stranger has instantly started to ask about god or throw things goes a long way to getting Iggy to feel relaxed.

"Thank you, that's kind of you." Alcuin leaned over, breathing in the scent of the food, and grinned. "Oh, that smells delicious. I might take you up on that, if you're sure. I shall pay you back in muffins later." Intrigued by Iggy's physical appearance, Alcuin looked up--all the way up--at him, grin still friendly and cheerful. "You look like someone with a fast metabolism."

Iphigenia's ankle is healing, slowly but surely--each day it hurts a little less. Still. she doesn't walk on it, so today, she has her crutches beside her in the common room while she reads a book--probably some sort of romance novel, we're guessing.

She's willing to be interrupted, though--reading can get dull, she thinks.

Still no old faces, Alcuin thinks, when he spots a new one. He hasn't had time yet to feel lonely or to miss his old friends. Every time he turns around, there's someone else to greet.

"Excuse me," he says, approaching her because of the book. Everything's moved around inside the mansion since he last saw it, and he's going to need directions to the library sooner or later. "I'm sorry to interrupt. My name's Alcuin no Delaunay. Can you tell me the way to the library?"

She puts down her book (a little relieved, it was getting boring) and smiles.

"Of course I can," Iphigenia replies. "I could show you, though..." She looks over at the crutches. "i'm a little indisposed."

"I wouldn't want to make you get up," Alcuin assured her. "Directions will quite suffice. Besides, I'm already up. There must be something I can bring you, if you're injured. Ice? Something to eat?" He can't help it, every fiber of his nature is infused with the desire to serve. And as she is clearly injured and therefore possibly in need of assistance, how can he resist?

Stiles is a growing teenage boy, a growing teenage boy with a huge appetite and now untreated ADHD. Let's just say he spends a lot of time in the kitchen because the constant, unchecked energy is eating up a lot of calories. Therefore, Stiles is eating a lot of calories, and luckily the Mansion is providing them. He's in the kitchen chowing down on a veggie tray if Alcuin happens into the kitchen.

Finding himself hungry, but too distracted by all the new introductions to bake anything, Alcuin has only just left his last conversation and headed into the kitchen to find food for himself when he sees Stiles. So many new people in one day, he's starting to feel a little shy, but his good manners and friendliness trump that.

"Hello," Alcuin says, with a flustered smile.

"Hi!" Stiles greets him, friendly and relaxed. "If I get in your way, just tell me. I'm starving though, how about you? This veggie tray is huge if you want some." He'd rather have curly fries, but this was ready and waiting in the refrigerator. Peeling potatoes takes too much time.

"Thank you," Alcuin says, gratefully helping himself to a few pieces. "That's generous of you." He sinks into a chair, feeling weary. "I just returned today. Returned after years, apparently. My younger sister is now twice my age." Smiling wryly, he considers Stiles, charmed by his energy and good spirits. "I'm Alcuin no Delaunay."

If Alcuin ever makes it to the kitchen (it still smells of tea, there's still a plothole, all in all, it's pretty much the same), he might find a strange character perched on a stool. Ryuzaki is enjoying some New York Style cheesecake, very daintily.

He's focused on it, and has been eating more than usual (yes, it's possible).

He might be bored, since Light left. No nemesis to spy on, and Misa is tedious after five minutes.

Determined to get some baking done now that he's bid farewell to his newest acquaintance, Alcuin walks back into the kitchen only to find someone else. Opening his mouth to say hello, he pauses at seeing how focused the stranger is on his cheesecake, and can't help but smile.

Quietly, not wanting to interrupt this clearly sacred union between man and cheesecake, Alcuin slips barefoot through the kitchen, starting to open cupboards and learn his way around.

L isn't the most sociable person in the world, but this is one rather lovely individual.

More interestingly, this is a new individual, who seems to have an interest in cooking.

Let's add to it that this is also an individual with the sense to let him eat in peace.

Commendable.

"If you are looking for the spatula," his deep, monochrome voice intones, "it would be in the second drawer to the left."

He then resumes his food porn.

Alcuin wasn't looking for the spatula, and had no reason to want the spatula at this time, but he couldn't refuse the courtesy. Opening the indicated drawer and picking it up, he considered it for a moment as he decided what to do, then looked over with a smile. "Pancakes?" he suggested, cheerful, and then felt foolish, although his soft smile stayed in place. "Except that you're already eating. Never mind. Thank you."
