[Open Post] "Surely some revelation is at hand"

Nov 27, 2012 18:14

Twilight Sparkle's discussion of religion with Angelique has gotten her curious about religion: they don't really have religion in Equestria, and so she's been reading everything she can get her hooves on about God and religion. She's read about Christianity and Judaism and Islam. And some odd thing called Mormonism. She started reading some books ( Read more... )

[Couldn't resist.]

Hisoka walks into the library, and the first person he sees is Twilight Sparkle, surrounded by all those weighty tomes. "What's the matter, Twilight?" he asks.

She looks up from the clutter of books and she might breathe a little sigh of relief. "Oh, Hisoka: I was doing a little research and I stumbled on a disturbing prophecy:

"There's these people called the Mayans who had a calender that ends this year. And there's some people who say that means the world is going to end..." At least she has someone friendly to broach this to.

Hee, it's perfect!

"This year?" asks Hisoka. He's a little hazy on "when" the present is. He was kidnapped out of his original world in 1999, but it was around 1905 when he left the airship world. He's spoken to people at the Mansion whose eras are the last decades of the 20th Century or the first decades of the 21st. And a few (like Commander Spock) come from much farther in the future than that. So it's a bit of a muddle.

"I found a human calender that seems to say it's the year 2012. I would think, since most of the creatures who live here are humans, that the human calender would fit," she replies, logically. But there's concern in them there purple eyes.

Because the typist feels like breaking Will's brain... he's heading into the library for some reason. He stops when he sees Twilight, stares for a moment, then shakes his head.

"Just when you think you've seen everything," he mutters, maybe just loud enough to be overheard.

She's pointing to a page in one of the books, and a soft orchid-colored light glows about her horn and a soft, low chime can be heard, as the page turns itself. She'll look up then, blinking. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you there: I was a bit wrapped up in my reading," she says.

"That's all right," Will says. It means she didn't notice him staring at her, which is kind of convenient. "Found something interesting?"

"Oh, yes, I've been reading about some rather strange prophecies from some people called Mayans: I guess they predicted the end of their world, though it's all worded so vaguely," she says, pushing one of the books with a hoof. "I can't tell if it's the world of the Mayans that was ending, or the world of the humans, or just one of many worlds."
