[Introduction] Um, we're not in Equestria any more...

Nov 03, 2012 04:47

Nightmare Night nearly turned into a disaster, with Luna offended, mistaking the comical fear of the ponies for real distrust, but friendship had worked its magic and the night was saved. Another lesson learned, and she had a letter to write to Princess Celestia about her discoveries. In her haste to get started, she'd left her Star Swirl the ( Read more... )

"Angelique Stark," she replies, smiling a little. "And this is Grey Wind."

It's very weird, talking to a unicorn, but the stuff of dreams, too, and she's woven so many while working, back in the days of the Cathedral...

"Are you.... did God send you to us?"

"It's nice to meet you, Angelique Stark," she replies. "I don't know if God sent me: I haven't heard of him before. Is he a powerful magic user?" she asks, innocently. There doesn't seem to be a concept of religion in Equestria, though the Ponies seem to have a concept of virtue by way of the Elements of Harmony. It's a bit like a more easy-going form of Confucianism.

Well, that sounds like a weird analogy, but...

"I... I guess, the most powerful of all, if magic exists, except it's not magic he does, it's.... euh..." Angelique is looking for her words, hard, "it's... something divine."

There.

"I'mmmm... afraid I don't exactly understand what you mean by divine?" she admits. "But there's a good library here, I'm sure I can find some good books about it to read!"

Angélique is no theologian - she loves the stories of saints's lives, she gets off on miracles, but she's never tried to theorize any of it.

And so...

"I.... well... there is someone who might be able to explain..."

do you mind bringing Parsifal in?

"Oh? Is he a teacher? I'm always happy to meet a new teacher," she says, hopefully. "I'm happy to meet any new people: my teacher back in my world, Princess Celestia, told me that I needed to get my muzzle out a book once in a while and meet new people."

Sure thing! That would be cute!!

"He is a... a holy knight, a priest, after a fashion, and... I guess a teacher, too? My husband says he's a septon..."

Angelique is a bit out of her depth, but she's trying to help. At her feet, Grey Wind shifts a little, and she stands.

"We'll have to walk to the chapel - do you think you can stand putting your hooves in the snow?"

"Oh, I don't mind at all! I could use a walk, and I'm still exploring the house and the yard here," she says. "A little snow won't bother me."

"And walking will warm me up," Angelique agrees.

She'll set to walking towards the chapel, then, Grey Wind in her close guard, pressing against her whenever she pauses, for warmth and comfort.

Fast forward to Parsifal?

They'll come upon the young Knight of the Grail in the chapel, gently dusting the altar before repositioning the linens. Seeing the two entering, he looks up with a smile. "The Lord be with you, Lady Angelique..." And then he notices her companion and he'll blink, passing a hand over his eyes. "And how comes the unicorn in this place?"

"Ser," Angelique says, after a small curtsy and head inclined, as fits the young lady Stark, "This is Twilight Sparkle, and she has not heard of the ways of our Lord..."

She looks down, and adds, "I was hoping you might..."

"That I might answer her queries? I would be honored to share the good news of the Lord God with her," he says.

"Hello, Sir Parsifal, Angelique asked me if God had sent me, but I've never heard Him before, not till now," she says. "Who is He?"

"God is the One Who created the world out an outpouring of love, and Who sent His Son into that world to redeem sinners, to help those who chose the bad to find their way back to the good," he replies.

"Oui, that is it," Angelique says sweetly. "We are all saved, by His Love."

A thought, if you want to handwave the conversation with Pars and TwiSpark, this is one we could wrap up?

"He sounds really kind," she says, impressed and curious and pleased, both to hear that there are kindly beings out there, somewhere, and with this new bit of knowledge, shared by such friendly humans.

She'll pepper Parsifal with questions, which he's happy to answer, though if she gets beyond his range of knowledge or the ability to parse it (yay, growing up in a forest...), he'll suggest that she try the library and its copious stock of books

Sounds like a good place to leave them!
