It's one of those late mornings - Helen's been up since dawn, feeling that slow quietness that comes with nostalgia. Her son got married - he and Bridget give her joy, but that has also set her to remembering her own marriage ( Read more... )

She might find she has company, though he was in search of green tea and red bean mochi. On seeing her, Muraki pauses, one of his rare genuine smiles crossing his face and reaching his good eye.

"Helen... it's been a while, hasn't it, the last time we saw one another?" he says, his voice soft yet husky with a quiet ardor.

The warm, sensual voice certainly comes in contrast with Helen's brooding, but it's welcome.

Company, warmth, intimacy... those were the things she was missing, and Muraki is offering them on a plate.

Hard to resist, if you ask her. Even for someone as measured as she is.

"Do you find?" she asks, her smile gentle, sweet.

As I recall, we did handwave them going together to the wedding, right? Er...

"I was looking for tea, but I've found someone who nourishes my heart and soul," he says, coming closer. holding out his hands to her, palms up and open. "How have you been, since your son's wedding to his true love?"

Hee, we talked about it: handwaving works for me!

Helen is always a touch flustered when Muraki waxes poetry for her - but at the same time, it's so nice!

"Well," she replies, though it's half a lie, "thoughtful, I guess. It's a big change."

There's a chill in the air and damp leaves cling to his boots as Remy stomps into the kitchen, trying to shake off the damp and rub some warmth back into his arms through his sweater. He's been out in the woods working with his bo staff and now he's cold and a bit tired. He perks up immediately when he sees Helen, though and gives her a warm, happy grin. "Morning, Helen!"

Now, this is someone who will always make Helen happy - Remy is meaningful to her, on many levels. He saved her life. He is young, handsome, charming.

Troublingly so, sometimes.

And she can't not smile at him.

"How lovely to see you," she says. "Have you been well?"

"Oh, can't complain." As he passes he leans in to give her an affectionate kiss on the cheek before taking a deep, appreciative sniff of the biscotti. "How're you? This smells delicious."

Helen does lean in for the kiss, she grins a little wider. "Why, have some, then - would you like some coffee? I might press another cup, if you like."

Arthur's after a cup of coffee when he wanders through, reflexively giving her an absent smile as he passes. He doesn't know yet that she's the woman he wanted to talk to abut her dreaming experiments. "Morning."

"And to you," Helen replies very politely. She has a sense of decorum - and so her brooding is erased from her face, making her the perfect hostess.

"I don't believe we've met, have we?"

"We haven't. I haven't been here very long." He gives her a friendlier smile and offers a hand. "Hi, I'm Arthur."

"Helen Curtis," she replies, smiling. "Please, have a seat - would you like to try the biscotti? It's home-made, of course."

She realizes how silly that sounds, and chuckles to herself.

These two need to meet. Tom's heard about her. From Muraki, if the typist remembers correctly, when the two of them were discussing the shortage of Australians at the Mansion.

Tom's heading into the kitchen, looking for something to eat. He wasn't expecting to run into anybody, but when he does, he greets her, friendly as always. "Hi."

M2 is a mum before she's many other things - and though this one's not her son (her married son, she has to remind herself), something about Tom's meek ways reminds her of him.

"And to you," she replies kindly. "Would you like some biscotti? It's just fresh made, and cooling off..."

"Er," Tom says. "Sure. I was just looking for something to eat."

He doesn't really know what biscotti is, actually, but he's too embarrassed to admit that.

"Have you had breakfast yet? There's coffee and biscotti, if you like..." Helen is more than happy to share.

11-12 has been happily busy with his husband a lot of the time but of course he is happy to see Helen and goes over to her. His smile is more relaxed than she's ever seen it before.

"Mum."

When she hears the familiar voice, Helen lights up.

"11-12," she says fondly. She'll open her arms for him, walk over, kiss his brow. "How have you been?"

"Good. Wonderful, in fact," he enthuses. Genuinely happy.

"I'm so pleased, darling," Helen replies as she settles in her seat. "It makes me infinitely happy."

She takes a moment, takes a sip of her coffee, and daydreams.

She has things of her own, of course - she'd like to discuss them with 11-12.

[OOC: No worries, sweetness <3 ]
