I went to campus for Matt Thorn's lecture at the 4th Annual UF Conference on Comics. Comics and Childhood was the overall topic this year. I heard from Kelsey that apparently UF has fairly notable comic studies program - who knew?

I've read that the Shogakukan Manga Award winners were announced for this year (51st year). This year in the girl's category (other categories are: boys', children's, and general) the winner is a series called Sonnanja neyo by Kaneyoshi Izumi.
