A propos to nothing in particular, a rant:

Zero Emissions Vehicle manufacturers, you aren't winning my confidence by making your no-gas-required products out of PLASTIC, and powering them with ELECTRICITY.  Sure, not needing gas looks eco-friendly, but you're not saving petroleum use, so would you CUT THE CRAP?  Thanks.

It's a crisis!    According to conservative assholes we're in the midst of a demographic crisis in which *gasp* not enough white babies are being produced!  Europe's population is shrinking!  Nevermind the growing non-white populations - they don't count, because by and large they don't innoculate their kids with conservative Christian doctrine.  ( Read more... )

So an image has been making the rounds on this ol' intarweb and it's got me creeped out.  No, it's nothing like 2girls1cup, and it's not apallingly gory or anything; it's an ad for beauty products from 1976.  The creepy bit (and you'll understand this better after the jump) is that the model looks uncannily like a young me.

My friends, a brief word of warning:

If you should ever think that drinking scotch and eating pickled asparagus at the same time, especially on an already-iffy stomach, think again.  No matter how smooth the scotch or how garlicky the asparagus, take it from your old pal Melissa, it's a bad idea.

So, it's getting cold, ants are in the kitchen.  I'm not much of a housekeeper, so keeping the kitchen sterile is pretty much out of the question.  All that said, what works for controlling them?  So far (over the past couple days) I've tried freshly ground pepper and vinegar to absolutely no avail.  In the long run I've been keeping ant baits ( Read more... )
