a short update from the library

Still no word on the computer. I keep speedreading my flist and answering mail during the day and saving links to everything I'll want to download later. Woe. If I don't get it for the weekend I may cry. (Or not, but at least I'll complain a lot.)

A guy on the bus this morning looked exactly like Frank Iero (massive, glorious picspam of joy by shrift). ( Read more... )

I can honestly tell you I do not feel even the tiniest bit of interest and especially no lust when I look at emo band boys. In stead the first thing I feel when I see them is that I want them to wash and to stop making their hair look so disgustingly limp. And the second is that I want to tell them to stop immitating their betters, i.e. the real punk bands of the 70s :-) I guess I have finally grown old. I didn't think I would ever feel like this but I do. It's rather scary to have become one of the older generation who doesn't understand what the kids today see in their musical idols :-/

hee! I was actually expecting someone to say that they really don't like them, thank you very much. *g* I do admit that sometimes I just want them to take a bath or stop blabbing about their private life in public. But it's also part of the charm, I guess. (Not the poor hygiene, but the openness.)

I like them for the music (I like the pop/rock/punk combination), the cuteness, the way they're ridiculously touchy-feely with each other and the fact that there's a lot of good fic around. Also, most of them have some kind of connection to each other that makes for excellent crossover potential. The associated drama however is both strangely fascinating and tiring. I have to admit my ignorance when it comes to 70s punk bands but I guess these boys might seem like a watered-down version compared to them. *g*

They're adorable. (Especially Patrick. And Bob, and Frank, and Gerard and ... hell, all of them, really.)

i agree! i'm not actually cool enough to be in bandom, and god knows i don't have the time to keep on all the footage and such, but i definitely dig the boys a whole lot, and the few times i've written them it's been a ton of fun!

I've lurked on the edges of bandom for a long time and they're absolutely adorable! In just lost interest for a while, but I'm starting to love them again. And yes, the times you've written them have been fun. ;)

Thank you for the vibes! I hope they help. *g*

The computer is back, it's still not working as it should and I've called the firm to complain. They promised to call back about, oh, almost two hours ago. Grrr. But well, things could always be worse. :/

I lurk on the edges of bandslash. They're so pretty and I'm so easy about men with eyeliner.

So I check out the comms and squee at the pics, but don't actually get involved fannishly.

Mmmm, yes on the eyeliner. They're such pretty, pretty boys. And they wear tiaras! How great is that? ;)

Well, you're pretty busy with popslash so I don't wonder that you don't have the time (or the inclination?) to get very active in bandslash. I usually lurk for a LONG time in a new fandom and I have a weird relationship with bandslash anyway, so I'm not likely to get very active either. But I do enjoy the boys and the stories. *g*
