"We didn't order this," Amy protested as the waiter set down two glasses and a bottle of wine on the table. It was the first time she and Rory returned to Leadworth after their final adventure with the Doctor and they knew no one in the country except their grandparents, whom neither of them could visit directly without changing their timeline.
"It is a gift from the gentleman over there," the waiter replied, gesturing to an older man--Amy could not see him clearly as the man's back was to her though she noted he had gray hair and wore what seemed to be an old frock coat that was a half-century too late in this day and age--that had already stood up from his table and was making his way out, "and his message to you both was 'Welcome home, Ponds'."
:D This is so good! They "knew no one in the country", and there's that hint of lostness, and then a stranger (! in a frock-coat! :D Is this inside information?) welcomes them home! Beautifully warm! (and a hint about Twelve's character - lovely!) Oops: editing to add: Thanks! :)

No inside information whatsoever, alas. However, in a recent article in the Radio Times, it was hinted that Capaldi's costume would be a bit old-fashioned and a bit of a nod to the future. I just ran with the old-fashioned part and have him wearing an old frock coat.
That, or perhaps it is Eleven's current outfit which he started wearing after the Ponds left him.
