There's something going on with the kids. Something is using itself to channel themselves through the kids, using them to speak to us. I'm not getting through to the Ministry of Defense, they've got some kid working the phone lines who obviously wasn't prepared for anything like this when she signed up for this temp job there

I hope I can. I mean. Something's using the kids. All of them. Every single child on the face of the Earth apparently stopped and did exactly that. In unison. Everywhere. France, Wales, Japan, the US, Canada, Africa, Russia...

I don't really know what to make of it. Which was why I was kinda hoping that the Doctor could help me out on this one...

I'd say it's probably the community's fault -- it usually is, anyway. But, maybe it's a good thing, I mean, maybe someone else will be able to help figure it out if the Doctor can't.

I mean, what kind of ... thing could so something like that? Using every child as some kind of conduit? I mean, I've seen mind control, but that's ... way too many people at once.

Tell me about it. There's what, I'm not even sure how many kids on the planet. And every single one of them just stopped. It happened once this morning, and then once this afternoon. We're going to have to start running some tests on it, but. I'm gonna need a kid for that, first.

We don't know, they didn't say. It'd have been a lot easier if they did. Announced who they were and all. It'd solve us a lot of hassle. Too bad they weren't as considerate as that.

... I dunno, Jack. I've never seen anything like this before - well, I've seen things that are similar, but why the children? And while we're here, who's "we", for that matter. There's over a hundred species in the universe that are capable of using mind control - well, for want of a better word, that is, but it's difficult to narrow it down from just one video clip...

That's what I'd like to know, Doctor. What would anything out there want with the children? More specifically, why use them? Why not just send us a message or something? Come up and tell us to our faces what they want to say. Why the kids?

Because seriously. Every kid that was awake on the whole of the planet stopped and started doing that. And I mean every one. In the States, here in the UK, in Japan, Russia, France, Africa, Brazil, India... Everywhere. And what's more, every single child is speaking English. Even the ones who don't even know what English is.

Why does anyone in the universe use children to send a message? They want to make sure that whatever they want to say gets your attention. Adults, well, by many people's standards they're expendable, at any rate you send them off to fight wars for you, but children - that's different. That has the scare factor. Which means that whoever or whatever you're dealing with, they're dangerous. And possibly want the kids for something else other than as attention-grabbers, but what...

Only English? Any idea why that is?

No, not really. It's just that it seems to be centered around Britain. Like, everything focused around this area in particular. Scheduled around our time schedules, speaking our language. But... What it is, and why it's doing this? We haven't got a clue.
