Even though he had agreed to allow Clint and Natasha to come along to his mother's for dinner, he still wasn't sure it was a good idea. There were things in Coulson's personal file that no one except the highest ranking members of SHIELD knew about. There were things that were kept secret for no other reason than the fact that people didn't need to know. But, the fact of the matter was, Coulson trusted the two of them more than anyone save for Director Fury.
Once Clint and Natasha picked him up, he gave directions to one of the nicer parts of the city. Most of the homes cost upwards in the millions of dollars. The type of place Wall Street types and celebrities flocked to. However, the address he gave was modest in comparison to the rest. It was older and hadn't been remodeled to fit in with whatever style was currently in fashion.
After they parked, he led the way up to the door and stepped in without knocking, greeting a woman in the hallway with a smile. He introduced her as Caroline, his mother's personal assistant/cook/all around helper.
"Your mother's already in the dining room," Caroline informed them. "She's excited to meet your friends."
He smiled and walked down the hall to the open door of the dining room. Inside was a woman in her mid-nineties and though she was in a wheelchair, she held herself with grace and elegance. Her hair was styled, though a bit old fashioned. Coulson's smile changed to something neither of them would have ever seen. A smile reserved only for his mother. Phil went to her, leaning down to brush a kiss over her cheek.
"Hello, mum."
The woman broke out into a smile of her own, giving his cheek a soft pat. When she spoke, her accent was soft, British. "Philip, so good to see you. And with guests." She looked past him the pair, waiting for introductions.
"Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff. They work with me. Clint, Tasha. My mother. Peggy Carter."
