She'd left not long after her conversation with Donna just to make sure she actually made it to the chip shop on time. She could never figure out how long she'd take to get from place to place. It seemed to depend on weather, the time of day, and which direction the wind blew.

It meant she'd nibbled on a bit of chips before Donna made it, but not so many as to disrupt the celebration. Just enough to get the shop owner to stop glowering at her.

She grinned. "Alright. Only cos you've got money t'burn though."

"Strange feelin' for me, that," Donna replied as she unwrapped her chips, "Actually havin' money to spare."

She left the chip shop, holding the door open for Rose as she did so. As they walked into the streets, Donna took a deep breath. Rose seemed to know more than she did regarding the Doctor's current state, how he could be the same man yet with a different face. She had so many questions going through her head, she just didn't know exactly where to start.

"So, you saw that the Doctor's managed to land 'imself back here, then?" she said, her voice sounding more casual than she actually felt.

"I know th'feelin', too." Although recently she hadn't had any concerns over money--traveling with the Doctor and then living with a very rich, parallel version of her father--most of her life had been lived scraping together what they could.

She glanced over at Donna as she walked, and nodded. She wasn't nearly as calm as Donna sounded, but she put on a good show of it. "Yeah, I did."

She nodded slowly, delaying her reply for a few seconds by eating a couple of chips, as she tried to force her voice to remain relatively calm and even.

"And it's 'im? Definitely?"
