[Ben had been sleeping as little as possible and spending as much time as he could stand patrolling the city. He knew that a lot of the other heroes were out searching for Joker, and it left a gap wide open for the rank and file criminals to step in and take advantage of.]
[He had made his way north, to the City's version of Harlem, figuring that if it existed, it was fairly likely to be a criminal hotspot in this city as well. He perched at the edge of the roof of a abandoned four story brick building. Previously, it had housed a sub shop and apartments, but now it was missing a marquee, most of its windows, and any signs of habitation. From there, he watched as Luke took out his anger on a brick wall. Ben, clad in his makeshift dark clothing and ski mask, called down.]
Did that wall insult your mother, or kick your dog, or something?
[ Luke whips his head around to the source of the voice. It's dark, but he can make out the shadow of a figure at the top of the building. He hopes selfishly that it's a bad guy he can put his fist through. He really needs it. ]
[Ben puts his hands up, though he's unsure Luke can see him doing so from that distance with this little light]
Easy there, fellow. [Imitating an alien] I come in peace. [Normal voice again] It's a joke. It's what us Spider-people do. [As if to prove he is, in fact, a Spider-person, Ben begins crawling down the down the facade. A minute or two later, he's street level.]
Spider-Man met you a long time ago...hopefully your attitude towards the Spider-brigade has changed since that first meeting.
[ He eyes the Spider-Dude warily as he crawls down the wall of the building. He's not too familiar with Peter's Spider-Problems, only stuff he's heard through the grapevine. He heard of a Spider-Girl, but not another Spider-Man. ]
[ Heine's been creeping on Luke and Danny both, trying to understand these men who had taken Nill in, acted as her protectors while Heine wasn't here to do it. Right now he's sitting on a fire escape, just watching Luke breaking down the wall. ]
[ The wall has several holes in it by now and Luke's hand is unscathed. He stops and leans against an untouched part of the brick. Luke wipes his brow with his forearm though there's no sweat--just something to do--when he catches yet another figure watching him. ]
Angelica could take care of herself, she really could. She might not look like much, standing just over 5'2" and scrawny from months of cancer therapy, but she'd been trained to be a superhero and assassin since she was fourteen. Tiny or not, she could handle herself. That didn't mean she went looking for trouble, however. In fact, just the opposite was true. Angie kept to herself and was usually content to let Pietro swoop in and play protector whenever someone gave her any guff at all. She was still sick, after all, and while she knew she wasn't as fragile as he continually suggested, she didn't entirely mind that he liked to defend her honor and coddle her on occasion
( ... )
The alley he chose to pummel was basically punched out. Luke growled in frustration, running his hands over his head, and punching the floor, because there was nothing else really to punch. He could try patrolling some more as that was what he originally set out to do even if it was for all the wrong reasons.
He left the alley way to lick its wounds and was going to cross into the neighboring alley when he almost crashed into a small woman, wrapped up and thin. Luke held his hands out in case she fell over.
"Sorry 'bout that..." He mumbled, but then cocked his eyebrow at her once realizing the time and place. "You often go scrambling around in back alleys, sweetheart?"
"N-no," she answered quickly, trying to keep her balance. She'd been too distracted in trying to find her way back to a familiar block, she hadn't been paying close enough attention to where she was wandering. The last thing she wanted to do was cause trouble by walking straight into a stranger. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to--"
Angelica realized then who she was speaking to and she instantly relaxed. In fact, she let out a sigh of relief before remembering that he probably wouldn't even recognize her. Not without her costume, and not now that she was mostly bald and looking a bit more gaunt than usual.
"I was just going for a walk, sir. Er, Luke." She smiled warmly, sympathetic expression in her eyes. "I guess I got a little lost."

[ It's been taking some detours of his own lately. It's been a tough week, tougher on some than others, so he's not particularly surprised when he picks up Luke's scent in a bad part of town. He and Luke are cut from the same kind of cloth: the kind that likes to work through problems by getting drunk and hitting things (though not necessarily in that order).
He gives the man room for a while, enough time to let him release some of the heat from his blood. Some -- maybe not all. ]
Hey, Cage. [ He stands in the mouth of the alley, hands in the pockets of his leather jacket, toothpick tucked in the corner of his mouth. ]
I will wait forever....for Wolverine.....lukefuckingcageNovember 26 2010, 02:18:38 UTC
[ It's such a familiar voice he hasn't heard in months it nearly knocks him out of it. Luke turns sharply, hackles raised, and lowers them slowly once he sees the familiar shape and cut of Wolverine. ]
Logan. [ He relaxes a bit, but he's still tense around the shoulders and his hands are itching to put more force against something hard. ] You sniff me out?
Figured you might need somethin' to hit that ain't gonna turn to dust. [ He lifts his chin, his eyes glinting in the shadow cast by the brim of his hat. ]
