What do you say to someone who shows up here even though you know they're dead back home?

[abrupt question is abrupt, sorry]

'How's it going?' seems like an asshole-ish question in that situation. But you have to say something, it's only polite. Especially if they're going to be hanging around for who knows how long in this place. Eh, not that it ( Read more... )

Are you planning to going to school? Never knew.

You know, you having a job is a good thing. I was this close to lay into you about quitting your job. What else are you going to do? Though cooking shows are kind of boring... at least being a head chef somewhere, it was some kind of position of power.

Evening, my dear. It's not for me...I'm way past that age.

I don't need a job when it's a full-time position feeding the crew. So long as there's even one of them here, that's where my time goes.

Feeding your crew mates isn't making you money, Sanji.

No, but do you really think I took all the money I made from selling the club and stuffed it in a mattress somewhere?

Sanji-san, that's kind of a weird question.

Ah, sorry, Robin! I was just thinking out loud. Sort of.

Have you read through the pirate books I brought back? I have some more I picked up ages ago, about some of the historical places in this world.

...did something happen?

Mhm! I finished them, too. They were really interesting, thank you!

Wait, historical places, too? Can I come over and get them?

Yeah. You know Ace, who had dinner with us a few times? He's been sent back home.

Sure, of course! I saw the one on pyramids and thought of you, so I got it, and there's a few others. [just give him five minutes to hide the tawdry romance novels first]

I guess there's nothing you really can say. But you can enjoy getting more time with them.

[why hello pretty lady he hasn't met yet]

Here's hoping that they understand any awkward conversations. But then, I always wonder if people know they've come from being rather dead.

You're very right, though, miss. I don't believe we've spoken before; the name's Sanji.

It's definitely a curiosity. Though not one I'd want any hands-on experience with.

You'd be right about that. It's nice to meet you, Sanji; I'm Donna.

A pleasure, Miss Donna. I'm sure I might have seen your lovely face around the comm device before, but I hadn't said hello yet.

That's quite a compliment--the cooking show. Congratulations.

Ah, thank you Miss Maggie~! I don't know if it's a compliment or they're just hard up for contestants. I've seen some of those shows.

There's always millions of people who want to get on tv. To be asked is a big deal.

[wry smile--my god is Maggie actually comfortable enough with someone to tease them? I think so] Just don't let it go to your head.

.....quite the face you've got under the blue, there, doc.

Anyway. I've heard tales of the city coming after unsupervised kids to force them to go to school, before. I don't know how long until they find out there's an eight-year old hanging around me, but if and when they do...what's the advantage of letting her go to the institute?

Took me by surprise, too. It's been years since I've seen this mug in the mirror!

The benefits? Well, we specialize in imPort students, with providing them a safe environment where they can feel more comfortable, and never alienated if we can help it. In addition to a standard curriculum, we also provide classes on the responsible management of any powers they may have been provided, as well.

Well, I'm pretty sure she's already got a decent grasp on her power...although come to think of it I never did ask just how old she was when she ate the devil-fruit...

Anyway. I would never presume to speak for her, even at her age Miss Robin is capable of making her own choices. But if the damn government comes knocking, I don't know if she'll have much choice.
