What do you say to someone who shows up here even though you know they're dead back home?

[abrupt question is abrupt, sorry]

'How's it going?' seems like an asshole-ish question in that situation. But you have to say something, it's only polite. Especially if they're going to be hanging around for who knows how long in this place. Eh, not that it ( Read more... )

That's quite a compliment--the cooking show. Congratulations.

Ah, thank you Miss Maggie~! I don't know if it's a compliment or they're just hard up for contestants. I've seen some of those shows.

There's always millions of people who want to get on tv. To be asked is a big deal.

[wry smile--my god is Maggie actually comfortable enough with someone to tease them? I think so] Just don't let it go to your head.

You're welcome over here anytime. Ah, and you can meet Robin~! She's so adorable at this age, though if she were in her mature state like I remember her I think you two would get along famously.

Robin? Is she someone from your world?

Yeah, one of the crew! Although she wasn't...back when she was eight. It's one of those weird time-line things that the 'porter does sometimes.

Actually, she's an avid reader. I wonder if you could recommend some good books for her.

I always wonder what would happen... if I ended up with something like Big Sis as a child...

Sure. What kinds of things does she like?

Hm, well...I know her tastes when she's older. She became an archaeologist, so anything having to do with history is probably fair. Other than that, who knows? Maybe some of this world's best fairy tales, or something.

I know. I could take her to the library, and she could pick out something she likes.

[that Maggie gets to go to the library by doing this is beside the point. Really.]

Thanks. Just let me know when.

How old is Robin, anyway?

Right now, in this place? Eight years old.

As her crewmate I feel responsible for her, but I don't know how far that should go.

Well, if you need a hand in any other way, let me know. We took in Anita when she was 10, and I've helped look after younger kids here.

Oh? I might have to take you up on that. I don't really have any experience taking care of young kids.
