“The last one I want to speak first is CTV”

Yeah I'm going to harp on about this, because I think it's relevant to Liberal leadership.

Dion is missing. This is the last known video of Monsieur Dion as he exits the bldg. CTV has become the post-election battleground for the Liberals ( Read more... )

Its probably worth noting that last night, ATV (the maritimes CTV affiliate that did the interview in the first place) aired a segment in the first quarter of the evening news trying to defend themselves for airing it. That featured mostly high up CTV news staff explaining why they decided to do it, and that it wasn't Steve Murphy being mean. It wasn't an apology, but its clear that they're feeling some heat.

I made my opinion on the incident itself in the previous thread, so I won't repeat it. I will say that I think Dion's anger towards CTV is understandable. They told him they wouldn't run it, then they did. From his perspective, why doesn't matter. If Radio-Canada had done it to Harper flubbing a French interview, don't you think he'd be rather annoyed at them? Of course he would, and it'd be normal. People tend to dislike being made to look bad on national television.

Other Liberals don't share that view because they weren't the ones the camera was pointing at.

Harper also would have sued Radio-Canada.

Maybe the Liberals should have taken a Conservative approach.
Pre-screen questions, or simply refuse to do any interviews.

I agree. It's certainly safest.

Perhaps the Dion should take a page from Harper and sue CTV.

Perhaps. But it would just re-enforce that irresponsible nature of Liberals to blame others when the fault clearly lays within.

I'd love to see a source for Dion linking that interview as a reason for the failed green shift. In fact, this is the first I've heard that link. Please, provide us a source.

i'd hate to see him go as i kind of like the guy, but in reality its not guys like dion that win elections...its kind of sad

and it's gotten to the point where it is more important to get harper out than which one of the liberals will be the leader

i am curious though...how long will it take harper to screw up and split the cons into seperate parties?

so all the evils of NAFTA continue to grow with europe? good for the economy now, but....heck, this is a whole other topic here. i do get excited though whenever our politicians start talking about trade with europe. mabye this economic crises (rolls eyes) can be a stepping stone towards diversifying our trading with other countries. why do need to do 80% of it with the states? being close by isn't making it cheaper. do you know whaqt they're calling this deal?

you're right it wont be harper...i see no hope of it happening anytime soon though. whats the longest someone has held on to leadership of a right-wing party in this country? how do the rules applying length of PM-ship apply when we have minoroity governments and 2-year long governments?
