Title: First Time for Everything...
Pairing/Characters: Colby/OFC-Callie
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 2031
Summary: She couldn't imagine a day more perfect than this.
Spoilers: none. Pre-series, an AU of sorts.
Notes/Warnings: To cheer myself up after an annoying day, I decided to read this... and then I decided to post it. This is a sort of alternate universe where Callie and Colby are high school sweethearts, started when julietm wrote Winter Carnival. This piece takes place a little further into high school... one summer night in a barn before their senior year. The first time. It's a little awkward, and a lot schmoopy... probably unrealistically so, but it's Callie and Colby - young and in love. They can do anything. Thanks as always to my wonderful beta, julietm who started all this in the first place. ;p
Disclaimer: If you recognize it, regrettably - it's not mine.

Callie honestly couldn’t have imagined a day more perfect than the one she’d had. She’d spent the afternoon surrounded by people she loved as they enjoyed a good old fashioned Southern barbeque, despite the fact they now lived in Idaho. There had been good food and laughter, and lots of quiet moments away from every thing with just her and Colby - the soon to be 18 year old dream boat she loved with all her heart. Even at the age of 17, she knew he was and would always be the love of her life and every quiet moment away with him only confirmed that fact.

The sun had silently sunk into the horizon, drawing the guests away from the party for the evening when Colby took his turn to surprise her. He’d made plans for that evening; plans that included driving her to the closest city to Winchester. Lewiston was half an hour away but there the two had been able to watch the 4th of July fireworks over the expansive lake. He’d held her close as they watched in awe of the beautiful colors erupting overhead. There were no city lights and no clouds to distract them from the view. All that lay above them was a perfect open Idaho sky, speckled with stars and fireworks.

They’d lingered a while after the display ended, just sitting by the lake and listening to the sound of the water as it lapped at the shore. They didn’t need to say anything to each other then. All they needed was to hold onto each other and savor this world that was vast and tonight seemingly theirs for the taking.

For how long they sat there, Callie didn’t know… nor did she really care. All she knew was it was still her birthday when he smiled at her and stood, offering her his hand. He led her back to his truck and then drove them to the one place that was truly all their own: a barn, abandoned and tucked away from every thing and every one. This had been Colby’s hiding place since he was 13. As far as they knew, no one else alive knew the place existed. This was a secret meeting place where they could disappear and just be with each other.

And tonight, this place would become so much more for them, Callie thought as she once more gazed at the man now looking down at her.

She felt his bare skin against her own, sighing with the tingles coursing through her body from this new sensation. Warm flesh pulled taut over ever defining muscles slipped gently over the smoothness of her skin… the contrast causing her breath to catch and all the while he watched her from above.

This was the first time: the first time they’d seen each other completely exposed… the first time they would be together. She could sense Colby’s hesitation, but also his excitement as his eyes scanned down over her body. She felt him lengthening above her, and she closed her eyes - enjoying the subtle power of being able to excite him this way. She was young, but she still understood the power a woman could have over a man… a man that truly loved her.

She reached up and kissed him then, feeling his body relax into her with each gentle motion of her lips over his - conveying to him that she was ready for this, she wanted this, she loved him. He eased away, once more looking down at her as he ran his hand down the bare skin of her arm. There was trepidation in his fingertips when his eyes glided down over her body. And when his gaze found hers again, she smiled up at him - wrapping an arm about his shoulders before she whispered. “Go ahead, Colby… touch me.”

He glanced once more into her eyes before lowering his lips to hers - kissing her slowly and savoring the taste of her until he wanted more. Just as slowly, his lips moved away from hers… gently down over her chin as she arched her neck for him. His kisses moved over the curve of her neck, and he was gaining momentum until he was teasing one supple breast with his tongue and then the other - causing her to close her eyes even as she sighed for him. She bit at her lip as she tried to commit every caress to memory. Every thing was so new… and so powerful, just as it always was with the two - she just wanted to remember every thing about this night, about this moment.

When he could manage, he kissed her lower - trailing his lips down over her stomach before he hesitated to go lower and instead made his way back up. This time, he lingered over her breasts - caressing them as she knew he’d been longing to do. Calloused palms from a summer spent in the hay field bristled against her smooth skin, exciting her further and bringing a sigh from him as she reacted involuntarily to his touch.

She could feel his breath quickening against her skin as he finally slid his lips higher again, nibbling at her neck and resting there for a long moment. He needed time to calm himself, this much she knew.

And then when he looked at her again, she nodded - understanding that the moment had come.

Carefully… so carefully, because she knew more than anything he didn’t want to hurt her, he moved to guide himself into her.

Wordlessly, the two spoke - each encouraging the other as they came together until Colby pushed forward and could go no further. Callie’s bodily involuntarily arched into him as she gasped, not from pain but from the unexpected lack of pain and overwhelming feeling of desire she felt coursing through her. Suddenly, he had found something deep inside of her - something so deep that she never knew it existed until this moment. And now that he had found it, all she wanted was for him to make it his own.

Colby’s eyes shot into hers when he heard her gasp, the fear that he hurt her momentarily streaking across his face… but then, she opened her eyes and instantly she knew he saw the change in her. He saw that this wasn’t pain, but pleasure and then he smiled leaning down to kiss her.

When he eased himself away, he rested his forehead against hers for a long moment - just looking down at her and letting them both adjust to and enjoy this new and intoxicating experience. Despite their age, both felt the connection that surpassed the physical. This same connection had been made instantly the first moment he set eyes on her and now was stronger than ever as two bodies rested as one.

Callie shifted slightly beneath him, finding herself impatient and wanting to explore this new world. She enjoyed the small groan he gave before she once more whispered to him. “Go slow, baby… just… go slow.”

He smiled lovingly down at her, kissing her once more before he did just as she asked… moving slowly inside of her and letting her take him in - moving together and savoring every stroke, every new sensation this sacred union of man to woman caused within them.

Steadily, they found a rhythm. Increasingly, the pace grew. Quickly, they found themselves losing control… and in a blinding flash, they tumbled together - both gasping for air, sweating, and trembling from the earth rattling exchange.

Callie felt Colby’s body collapse atop her but for several long moments, she couldn’t see. The sensation was unlike anything she’d ever imagined and far from anything she’d expected. She was a smart girl. She had read books and did her homework. She thought she understood the first time was never a perfect time - that the woman was usually left wanting until her mate could learn control over himself and learn her body’s triggers.

But Colby, her Colby, had somehow discovered her triggers and had taken her over with him into this new world that existed just for the two of them. And as the sensation slowly started to pass, allowing her body to gradually relax beneath him, she clung to him.

Neither could speak for a while after that. They could only lie there together, resting in each other until Colby finally looked up at her. She understood he needed to know she was ok, gazing so adoringly into her eyes that she nearly thought she would cry.

She responded in kind by smiling up at him, her fingers now running through his sweat dampened hair - still in disbelief over how perfect this evening had been.

Colby moved into her touch and then his eyes trailed once more over her body - enjoying the flush of her skin and the way it shimmered now in the moonlight. Lower his gaze slid until he saw where they were still connected and then carefully he withdrew from her.

In that moment he saw something… something that, even in the darkness, allowed Callie to watch all the color drain from his face.

“Colby… what is it?” she asked, trying to draw his attention her way.

He wouldn’t answer, not looking at her until she asked him again.

“Cal… you’re… you’re bleeding,” he croaked and she swore there were tears in his voice. “What have I done?” he asked, starting to pull away and avoiding eye contact with her.

But Callie wouldn’t let him move as she held to him. “Colby... look at me,” she called softly, urging him with gentle fingertips as she tipped his chin toward her. He still couldn’t look her in the eyes until she called to him again, “Look at me.”

His eyes flickered upward, meeting hers - and in that moment she saw his shame and his fear of hurting her and all she could do was smile - tightening her hold on him.

“Colby… that happens sometimes the first time. That won’t happen next time,” and as she said this, she gave him a playful wink wanting more than anything to take all the sadness away from his heart.

He started to look away again but her hand under his chin wouldn’t let him. “Listen to me. You didn’t do anything wrong, Colby. You… you did every thing right. Believe me. I… I never dreamed anything like that actually existed.”

She could still see the hesitation in his eyes as he studied her and as she looked up at him, her smile turned into a grin with one long leg sliding its way around him. “You know… maybe next time, I could be on top.”

This seemed to cure him as his eyes and face instantly lit up with his hope and amusement.

“I think I’d like that… very much,” he finally spoke, his voice still hoarse from the range of emotions he’d experienced just in the last few minutes. He moved to kiss her then, and in his kiss - she found comfort and love, laced with longing and trust. This was how it always was with them. Somehow she knew this is how it would always be.

When he could pull himself away, he hovered for a lingering moment before kissing her forehead and then each cheek. His lips ran down her jawline, kissing her chin and back up the other side until he could kiss each eyelid. And then he turned over, pulling her into his arms and wrapping himself as tightly around her as he could manage after every thing they had shared this night.

There were no more words as his lips tenderly nuzzled her neck, and the gentle sound of his breathing quickly worked to lull her relaxed body closer to a state of sleep.

Just as her eyes were drifting closed, she heard him whisper her name. “Yes, baby?”

“I love you,” he whispered before kissing her cheek. “Happy birthday,” he breathed, settling in behind her.

Callie could only smile into the night, knowing this was a birthday she would never forget just before she drifted to dream - wrapped up completely in the security of her lover’s arms.
