Title: Everything Changes... (Sequel to First Time for Everything)
Pairing/Characters: Colby/OFC-Callie
Rating: R (adult situations, implied and otherwise)
Word Count: 1580
Summary: “Every thing is different now, isn’t it Cal?”
Spoilers: none. Pre-series, an AU of sorts.
Notes/Warnings: This is an alternate universe where Callie and Colby are high school sweethearts, started when julietm wrote Winter Carnival. This piece takes place a little further into high school... after one summer night in a barn before their senior year. The morning after the first time. It's still a little awkward, and a lot schmoopy. Thanks as always to my wonderful beta, julietm who started all this in the first place. ;p
Additional Author's Note: Just a reminder that Callie's father is none other than the man we know as Lt. Gary Walker. In this universe, he is happily married to Callie's mom and because this is a pre-series fic, he's not been promoted to lieutenant yet. Important facts that might make this fic a bit more humorous to you. :)
Disclaimer: If you recognize it, regrettably - it's not mine.

Early the next morning, Callie felt the whisper of lips against the exposed skin of her shoulder just before she felt Colby’s arm loosen the grip around her, moving away long enough to draw the blankets closer. She was instantly back in his embrace as he hugged her to him, sharing his warmth with her and nuzzling her neck while he waited patiently for her to fully awaken beside him.

“Are you warm enough, Cal?” he asked, his breath against her neck and his concern obvious in his tone.

Her still bare flesh was completely covered by the blankets he brought - tucked securely around her now by the arms that held her. Sighing contentedly, she couldn’t help but snuggle herself further into the young man behind her.

“I am now,” she answered, her voice still softened with sleep. The tenderness of his concern, the warmth of his embrace, and the sounds of early morning as it rained outside all worked to lull her back to sleep - to the place that existed when she closed her eyes. She was dreaming of love and love making, of sharing her first night with the man she adored. Only, she knew this was no dream. The images strobing through her mind were a beautiful memory from the night before when she’d given herself completely to Colby, receiving him in return.

As his lips once more nuzzled her neck and he gave her a gentle squeeze, Callie breathed deeply knowing that she needed to wake up and that Colby was anxious to talk to her. She knew he was lost in his thoughts even without seeing him.

She let herself rest for just a few moments longer before she wiggled back against him, letting him know she needed a little space. She felt him smiling, sighing contentedly as she moved against him before moving into a stretch. As she stretched, she turned over in his arms until her head was resting against his chest and his arms were tightly wrapped around her yet again.

“What are you thinking about, Colby?” she breathed, her eyes closing again as she absorbed the warmth of his skin beneath her cheek.

She felt him slightly tense, holding onto her a little tighter before he let himself relax. He hesitated a while before he took a deep breath and answered. “Every thing is different now, isn’t it Cal?”

Something in his tone caused her to look up, slightly concerned until she saw the look in his beautiful gold flecked hazel eyes. Something was definitely different, she thought - her heart melting with the complete adoration she felt radiating from his expression.

“Every thing is different… but…”

He didn’t need to finish the sentence as she shifted her weight to look more directly into his eyes. “Different… but better - even though you didn’t think it could be better than what we had just yesterday afternoon?” she continued for him, immediately watching his appreciation for her spreading across his handsome face.

“Yeah,” he sighed, his lips smiling softly at her as his arms tightened around her again before one hand moved to gently rub at her back.

She smiled then and leaned forward to kiss him. Her own arms slipped around him and held him close, drawing him into the kiss before she pulled back and continued to smile at him. “Yes, Colby. Every thing is different now.”

He nodded, resting with her a minute then moving her so that he was gently pressing her into the blanket beneath them. He hovered over her, simply looking at her as though he were memorizing every thing about her in this moment until he could finally speak again.

“Are you ok?” he asked and Callie couldn’t help but melt with his concern. After every thing they shared and spoke of, after all the days and weeks and months they had been together, her well being was still his primary care. He wanted her to be comfortable and happy and she knew he was still worried about last night even though she tried to put those fears aside.

She unwound her hand from under the blanket so that she could lovingly run her fingers through his hair while he looked down at her. “I couldn’t possibly be better,” she answered honestly, seeing the entire world around her differently now because her entire world was looking back at her. Her grin turned sideways then as she beamed, “You… were absolutely amazing last night, Colby.”

She watched his face soften, even as his cheeks filled with color and he started to turn away but her hand in his hair prevented it. “Absolutely amazing and on the first try! I can hardly imagine how good it’s going to be 10 years from now. I’m all tingly just thinking about it,” she smiled, as a shiver passed through her for the images running through her mind: an older version of herself and Colby, both more tone and supple with the changes that were still to come for their bodies - bodies now entwined in her mind and bringing each other pleasure.

Her words didn’t draw out the playful reaction she expected from her lover. Instead, his face sobered and now there was a curiosity shining back at her. “Ten years from now, Cal? Do you… do you really love me that much?”

It was her turn then to wrap herself around him and use the playful wrestling tricks he had taught her to shift his weight from atop her so that she was now looking down at him. “I’m going to marry you some day Colby Granger. All you have to do is ask and understand that you’re stuck with me, forever - because yes, I really do love you that much.”

She watched his entire face light up with his smile as his hands slid casually up her back. He didn’t need words to tell her how happy she just made him. She knew the first day he asked her out that some day he would ask her to marry him and that same day, she would say yes. She could see now that he also knew he would ask that question, but until this moment - he hadn’t known what her answer would be. His hands at her back drew her closer to him until his lips were pressing hers. She let her body fully relax against him as he kissed her with appreciation and love until both were nearly breathless and Callie was once again resting against his shoulder.

They quietly lay there together for several long moments before Colby chuckled. “If you’re going to be with me forever Cal, I should probably get you home before your parents think I’ve abducted you… or worse, they figure out what we did last night.”

Callie chuckled too as she looked down into his eyes. “I am pretty sure my mom already knows.”

His eyes widened and his face reddened instantly as he replied, “Your mom’s not the one with the gun.”

Callie couldn’t help but laugh and laugh loudly at this comment before her beaming face looked down at him and she slowly began showering his face with kisses. “You let mamma worry about the sergeant. She knows what buttons to push.”

“As long as it’s not the trigger,” he breathed, holding her close and savoring every kiss she placed against his skin.

The next thing she heard was the sound of him groaning as she continued her sweet torture, suddenly unable to get enough of the taste of him.

“Cal… um… Callie?” he sighed, an almost panic rising in his tone.

“Hmmm?” she hummed, her lips now moving over his chin.

“Cal… you uh… you’re still naked… and… “ he hesitated long enough to lift the blanket around them to peek at his body and hers, “yeah… so am I and… Jesus, you’re gorgeous,” he interrupted himself, lifting the blanket for another long peek at her now in the sunlight.

She didn’t stop her teasing as she felt the blanket lower once again and he took a deep breath.

“I’m… I’m only human woman… you … you need to quit that if we’re… if we’re… oh god,” he exhaled as her lips moved slowly down his neck - nipping at his shoulder before trailing upward again.

Callie suddenly couldn’t stop herself. There was power here… power that she knew she would enjoy discovering and rediscovering every day that she and Colby got to spend together. She was never one for patience though, and right now what she wanted was to explore this new world between them for just a while longer.

“Maybe we should make sure last night wasn’t a fluke, you know? Maybe we should see if that happens again,” she breathed against his neck. “Maybe I could have my turn on top,” she whispered, his ear nearly between her lips as she echoed her thoughts from last night. She heard him groan again, feeling his hands tightening around her waist as he closed his eyes.

She continued to tease him, enjoying the way his chest rose with his quickened breath until his eyes reopened and once more she saw the tender passion she’d seen in the moonlight the previous night.

“Your dad is really going to shoot me,” he answered, just before he slipped his hand under her hair to draw her into him - tasting her and letting her know she could have whatever she wanted, now and always.
