The vet just called to let me know that it's bad news. My poor Gracie has a very rare congenital skin disease that is incurable. She said that we can try a new shampoo and putting her on a strict schedule of at least two baths a week, but that's just to ensure that Gracie isn't spreading so much of her dandruff around. Yeah, it's so hard. If she was in a lot of pain it would be an easy decision... :(

I have a couple suggestions though. We had major health issues with Gambit (as in he was very very close to dying) and our vet told us we needed to have a intestinal biopsy done. We decided instead to put him on raw food and take him to a holistic vet.
He survived and he's a new dog. I would at least try it before putting her down. Try switching her to raw food first (there may be something in her food that she's not tolerating, we found out that Gambit has an intolerance to grains) and look around and see if you can find a holistic vet in your area. They're fairly cheap (ours cost $75 for the first visit) and they may have some ideas. Gambit's on daily supplements now and he's the healthiest he has ever been.
I sound like an evangelist but I know SO many people who swear switching to raw food saved their pets life. There's so much crap in all dog kibbles it's unbelievable.

I wonder if food would help at all. I thin I'm going to try the bathing thing and do what I can, but if changing her food could help, even a little, I'd be up for that.
What exactly do you mean by "raw" food?
