Gracie :(
The vet just called to let me know that it's bad news. My poor Gracie has a very rare congenital skin disease that is incurable. She said that we can try a new shampoo and putting her on a strict schedule of at least two baths a week, but that's just to ensure that Gracie isn't spreading so much of her dandruff around. We'll also have to shave her. She said that she didn't want to tell us what to do, but if it was her dog, she'd put her down. She said that it's going to be extremely difficult for us to make sure that everything stays clean because of all of the flakes from her skin, and that it's very itchy for her and it has to be uncomfortable, but that she's probably not in a lot of pain.
Which makes it hard. It's hard to think of putting her down when she's not in pain. Yet, at least. But she's going to have to go through a lot and so are we, so I'm not sure what to do. I'm so upset about this. We absoulutely adore this little thing, but we have to think about our kids and my eyes. I barely touch her now for fear that I'll get something in my eye and end up with another infection and then another transplant. We can't have that. But I can't just say yes to putting her down....
