and following up the holiday cards, it's ...!
Last year, we had the vacation event, where characters who had been in camp for more than a year were allowed vacation days where they could return home for however many days (based on how long they'd been in camp) to get things, potentially update in canon if they wanted to, ~do stuff~, and so on and so forth. We did some talking amongst ourselves and tweaked stuff! Here's how it will work this year:
- On January 1st, 2011, if your character has been in camp for at least a year as of that date, they will receive a mysterious letter stating that they have [X] amount of vacation days. We will toss up a post to indicate the start of this event. They do not have to take them if they don't want to! But if they do, they are permitted to exit through the barrier and appear in their vacation spot of choice. When their days are up, they will be forcibly returned to camp.
THE BREAKDOWN OF VACATION DAYS GOES LIKE SO: if your character was apped in 2009 (Jan-Dec), they get one day. 2008 = two days, 2007 = three days, 2006 = four days, and 2005 = five days. Unfortunately, if your character was apped at any point during 2010 (even January), they do not get vacation time. - These days cannot be transfered to other characters.
- If your character is a reapp, their vacation days are determined based on their reapp date. (i.e. Billy apped Bruce Willis initially in 2007 and dropped him in 2009, then reapped in 2010. Bruce does not get any vacation days, then, because he was reapped in 2010.)
- Your character is allowed to spend their vacation days anywhere! They don't necessarily have to go home to their world. ... with the stipulation being that once they go to a "world," they can only spend their time in that world. The Director is not benevolent enough to allow people to world hop, unfortunately.
- Your character will not be penalized for taking a vacation last year! If they had two days last year and took it - awesome, now they get three days this year! We want to keep this as straight-forward as possible. ♥ eta: If your character did not use their time last year, they cannot add that time to their current amount of vacation time. It's like cell plans without rollover minutes!
- If you want to thread out vacation stuff in your character journals, you are more than welcome to! We will put up a post on the 1st to signify the start of the event, but please do keep the comm to camp stuff only. By the same token, you don't have to sit out for four - five days if your character uses their vacation time! We are CFUD. Time and space is for other people.
