Very Important Burning Questions about post-JE fanfiction Very Important Matters:

1. What does a TARDIS look like when it is not a blue police box?  I mean, if Handy and Rose are going to grow a new TARDIS (and this is quasi-canon, per the scene that ended up not happening) what would it look like?  Is this covered in Classic Who perhaps?

2. I am now ( Read more... )

1. I could be wrong but I got the impression that when this show first started the police box was a recognizable symbol as.. you know.. not just a spacemachine, even though now they've fallen completely out of use (because we have, like, actual ... phones and stuff). Nine talks about this briefly. I'm not sure when excatly they were common, if they were still common during the 60s or if they were already "those old things no one uses anymore but we still have them on street corners", but I think when the show started -- at which point One and Susan were chillin' in London and being, like, Those Weird People for some reason that I dunno if it was ever explicitly stated or not -- this made sense as a disguise. And then the chameleon circuit broke (pre-canon, I think), so it's stuck on that "disguise" 4eva. Donna tells him how to fix this right before her brain starts imploding, but I think by this point we're just supposed to assume he kinda likes it. Plus let's be honest, no one notices anyway ( ... )

Nine definitely told Jack that it was supposed to change to blend in with the surroundings, like if it was in Rome it would have been a statue, but that it was stuck in police box form and he liked it that way, but I didn't know if it had been a police box all the way back in one's time. I mean, it would always have to be something large enough for an average sized person to step into, yeah? Because even if it's bigger on the inside they still have to fit through the door. And on Gallifrey where there are lots of TARDISES you wouldn't want them blending in, because you're never know what's a TARDIS...like TARDISES would be disguising themselves as your furniture and stuff...so a TARDIS must have a...non-disguised form ( ... )

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on Wikipedia about the Master's old TARDIS frequently being in really inconvenient shapes, but I do know the Doctor's has always been a police box ( ... )

"Occasionally it occurs to me how many times Tennant and Companion Actress of the Time must have had to squash into the TARDIS prop, and it makes me laugh. It's like I legitimately forget it's not really bigger on the inside, and when I remember I am amused ( ... )

1. Anything it wants. Generally, the Chameleon Circuit causes it the blend in with it's surroundings and not be all obvious. The reason the Doctor's TARDIS always looks like a police box is 'cause the circuit broke and he's never been able to/decided not to fix it. As this may or may not be something that is added to a fully grown TARDIS, it's up in the air as to whether or not it would be a thing for a baby TARDIS. Which basically means you could have it look like whatever you wanted it to look like. I don't think the specifics of Baby TARDISes are covered in any Who canon.

2. It's cruel, I suppose, but I always assumed they'd pass the TARDIS to someone else. Like Rose's brother, Tony. Or, you know, whoever.

3. I'm not opposed to the idea of Handy and Rose having children, but I 100% completely agree that they would be awful parents. For me, that fact makes it the whole idea 100% more interesting, though.

Oh, I didn't even think the Chameleon Circuit cold be something that was added after it's grown, I kind of like that because it solves the problem of baby TARDISes trying to blend into their surroundings.

Yeah, but you have to feel sorry for their kids who probably end up either growing up Frequently in Mortal Danger or else are rather ignored while Mum and Dad travel in time and space and leave.

I just think the story value of Growing Up Frequently in Mortal Danger is awesome, which is what they'd probably pick. Also the whole idea of a 1/4 Timelord might be cool, considering the whole Doctor/Donna thing.

Well, okay, it actually would make a pretty funny story...

I don't know how much Timelordiness a 1/4 TIme Lord would have....

Wow, the very concept of a baby TARDIS is exceedingly adorable...in a bizarre kind of way.

I kind of thing that TARDISes (TARDI?) would be like the Room of Requirement; it will be whatever you want.

THE IDEA OF ROSE AND HANDY PROCREATING SQUICKS ME SO HARD OMG i mean seriously. No.

That is even squickier because Nine is like, older looking and Rose seems even younger than usual in s1

Yeah Rose is more LOL SHOPGIRL in season 1 -- which is her whole point, to balance out the I R ANGRY ALIENness of Nine -- and .. he looks older and ... so gross, Liz, so gross. I think they had a sweet relationship and I think they were in ~love~ but GOD NO NEVER.
