Very Important Burning Questions about post-JE fanfiction Very Important Matters:

1. What does a TARDIS look like when it is not a blue police box?  I mean, if Handy and Rose are going to grow a new TARDIS (and this is quasi-canon, per the scene that ended up not happening) what would it look like?  Is this covered in Classic Who perhaps?

2. I am now ( Read more... )

1. I could be wrong but I got the impression that when this show first started the police box was a recognizable symbol as.. you know.. not just a spacemachine, even though now they've fallen completely out of use (because we have, like, actual ... phones and stuff). Nine talks about this briefly. I'm not sure when excatly they were common, if they were still common during the 60s or if they were already "those old things no one uses anymore but we still have them on street corners", but I think when the show started -- at which point One and Susan were chillin' in London and being, like, Those Weird People for some reason that I dunno if it was ever explicitly stated or not -- this made sense as a disguise. And then the chameleon circuit broke (pre-canon, I think), so it's stuck on that "disguise" 4eva. Donna tells him how to fix this right before her brain starts imploding, but I think by this point we're just supposed to assume he kinda likes it. Plus let's be honest, no one notices anyway ( ... )

Nine definitely told Jack that it was supposed to change to blend in with the surroundings, like if it was in Rome it would have been a statue, but that it was stuck in police box form and he liked it that way, but I didn't know if it had been a police box all the way back in one's time. I mean, it would always have to be something large enough for an average sized person to step into, yeah? Because even if it's bigger on the inside they still have to fit through the door. And on Gallifrey where there are lots of TARDISES you wouldn't want them blending in, because you're never know what's a TARDIS...like TARDISES would be disguising themselves as your furniture and stuff...so a TARDIS must have a...non-disguised form ( ... )

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on Wikipedia about the Master's old TARDIS frequently being in really inconvenient shapes, but I do know the Doctor's has always been a police box ( ... )

"Occasionally it occurs to me how many times Tennant and Companion Actress of the Time must have had to squash into the TARDIS prop, and it makes me laugh. It's like I legitimately forget it's not really bigger on the inside, and when I remember I am amused ( ... )

LOL I KNOW ISN'T IT HILARIOUS. I wonder about that shot in JE where they all rush in after each other. It must've been... not the whole box? Or maybe they flip back and forth between in and out of the TARDIS, I don't remember, btu either way: lol. I thought of it because I was... I don't know what i was doing, but I read somewhere about an interviewer asking Tom Baker (Four), who had seven seasons, how many times he'd stepped in and out of the box and he was like OH GOD, TOO MANY or whatever ( ... )

Ha! I can picture all of them squishing into and being like "OW THAT'S MY FOOT" and the director being all "stop complaining, you're supposed to act like it's bigger on the inside!" I seriously had like, actually forgotten that it was a prop and a set and not actually bigger on the inside ( ... )

Oh yeah...I have read Brave New World. Ugh, that's going to be stuck in my head as the model for Gallifrey now...

I don't think either of them are interested in marriage and babies, though I could see them getting married, but more due to pressure from Jackie & the rest of the world than from any need to do it for themselves, and yeah, when he mentions being a dad and she WTFs he immediately does his "hey, time for an awkward subject change now!" so she must know it's an uncomfortable subject for him (and also, that...well, dead kids generally are an awkward subject) so I don't think she expects any of that.

LIRL I DUNNO when I think looming and cold, impersonal genetic engineering I think Aldous Huxley, what can I say. However that does give me awesome mental images of Time Lord cults just like, doing drugs together. The non-Time Lord Gallifreyans can be the "savages", lol.

I see them getting married just as something that would kind of happen eventually, for the ake of Jackie and paperwork and legalities and maybe as an excuse to have a party.

also, that...well, dead kids generally are an awkward subject LIRL, THAT THEY ARE. On that note omg, "the Doctor is suddenly completely and totally open about everything!!!" drives me totally nuts, too. Stfu fics, this is clearly never going to happen.

I kind of think of the non-Time-Lord Gallifreyans as being pretty much like humans, and the Time Lords are like "Ugh, they're so uncivilized!"

I could see the Doctor getting married as kind of a cute, quaint human custom, and Rose being like "sure, okay, whatever" and Jackie being all like "YESSSS!!!" and then the tabloids have a field day with the Tyler wedding...

I KNOW! I could see Handy being slightly more forthcoming, because Donna's not exactly one to keep things to herself, but he's definitely not going to be like "OMG ROSE LET'S TALK ABOUT OUR FEELINGS NOW LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT MY PAINFUL MEMORIES."

LIRL PRETTY MUCH HOW I SEE THEM TOO. D'you know if they regenerate or if they just live for a really long-ass time, and if they don't regenerate do they only have the one heart? I know Leela shacks up with one and they live a long time and she gets a retarded Gallifrey name, but like... yeah ( ... )

I don't know if they regenerate but I read a fic where they don't....I'm not sure how accurate that was or if it was just fanon.

I kind of want to write a fic involved Rose and Handy vs. the tabloids because I find the concept absolutely hilarious.

I think Rose will drag it out of him eventually, as far as things will slip occasionally, but she's not the type to be like "Okay, tell me all this stuff now," she has a pretty good sense of when to push, in fact she pushed far less than Martha or Donna ever did.

I mean, Ten has A LOT of angst but he also tends to perk up after his angsty fits, so fic that is super!miserable!Handy seems to take it a little too far.

I think they don't, but I know they live really long, and I guess back in the day humans/other things could go chill on Gallifrey and live a longass time too? Like that's what went down with Leela. idk ( ... )

I could completely see the Doctor trying to mess with the tabloids and Rose just going *eyeroll*.

I think the stuff about the Master would definitely be something he'd not really want to get into, and Rose wouldn't really know to ask about/push on that unless he let something slip, which I can't see him doing because, well, yeah, the "I'm always okay" thing.

The Doctor would like, anonymously leak the actual version of events (complete with parallel worlds and hands in jars) to the British parallel-universe version of the Enquirer, and Rose would just be like "whyyy."

Yeah it's the kind of thing I don't see him Ever Mentioning Again, so I usually find it interesting bu odd when it comes up.
