I think that could happen. If jess decides to leave beforen the show gets cancelled im sure sara could be persuaded to come back.
I agree that sara has too much respect for the fans to let calzona officially end like that. And it could be something as personal as her depression has hit her again so she needs to step away to help herself get stronger which is comendable. I know the effects of it i grew with my mum who has it and being the eldest of 4 girls i had to take reaponsibility for my sisters.
My mum is bad again because my sister passed away in october unexpectedly and as you would expect its hit my mum hard and while dealing with this she and my step.dad seperated so its horrible.
But there was definately something that wasnt final about her tweet. Hence the for now part. Why put in for now if you dont plan on coming back.
And the lack of tweets or public will miss you speeches from the cast is strange too
Kahn Gibran's quote was the first thing I thought of when Arizona said they had a chance to do it right and they missed it. Idk that seemed very open ended. Arizona will let Callie go and if she comes back, then maybe they can get it right. Just not now.

Calzona completely aside...after re-reading Sara's tweet statement, it does feel like the door is still very much open for a return. I know Funky mentioned it being semantics, but I respectfully disagree. This isn't just weird wording. It was actually pretty specific. "But for now I'm taking some welcomed time off". Sara is very intellectually smart. She didn't just write that up on a whim. It took time & thought. Her leaving is very different than Sandra. We all knew Sandra was leaving & it was pretty definitive on her part that she was done. She never said anything about taking time off. Of course she'd love to come back for the finale. I'm going to guess that Shonda & Sara are going to remain very quiet about this. Also on her website, the title above her tweet says, farewell...for now...Dr. Callie Torres. If she doesn't come back, too bad, but if she does after a much needed break, I wouldn't be shocked at all

I agree. She chose the words for now specifically. Shes letting fans know im leaving for a bit but i will be back. So i wouldnt be surprised if she came back.
I agree though if/when she comes back to give calzona their happy ending, then lime you it needs to be either for a full season to close it off or even half a season. Imagine either the season finale or mid season finale amd arizona answers a knock at her door and its callie. Amd she says i couldnt be haooy in ny because the 2 things i need to be happy are here.

I don't think your predictions are crazy, yes I disagree with them whole heatedly, but not crazy,nor do I disrespect them. In literal sense some of your assumptions were infarct true.I don't feel shame in accepting that.
But there can be a lot behind what we apparently see, we have seen both predictable and unpredictable things happening in Grey's before. During season 10 finale a lot of people thought Japril was over & April will marry Matthew & honeslty Mathew was really a likable person and had some chemistry with April (unlike Callie and Penny) but at the end love between Japril won.
So what I'm saying is that everyone has the right to what they want to believe...for you it is "that one can have more than one great love" and for me it is "one can have only one true love".
It's not a battle of who is right or who is wrong or who will have the last smile. We all who will have that be & that's Shonda Rhimes :D
Do you guys think she might be back for a real send-off in the premiere? TVLine suggested that if she decided not to renew she would more than likely come back like Eric Dane did for a proper farewell...maybe she and Shonda addressed it after the episode so they could control the news getting out.

I highly doubt that. Honestly I don't think so.
I think she will take some time off, will do whatever she want to & then later she will be back.
Callie Torres still have a lot of character left in her & Calzona too. My guess she may come back at the end of Season 13 & will continue in Season 14.
I really doubt that. What's the point in her coming back just for the premiere at this point? Just so we can see her hug everyone goodbye & we can actually see her show up in NY? It really wouldn't change her exit or give Sara the farewell she deserves. They could've just done that in eps 23 & 24.

Sara seems like a literal person. I don't think she'll come back for the premier. I think she'll truly take time off. December sweeps I could see, a holiday episode. It would give TPTB time to see how the show is faring. Bring her back at least as a guest. But my gut says she won't be back for most of this season

Callie Torres still have a lot of character left in her & Calzona too. My guess she may come back at the end of Season 13 & will continue in Season 14.
I think it's more like 1/2 season kinda break.
