We arrived at my friend’s place just in time for dinner. Arizona could barely sit still as we pulled up the driveway, and I couldn’t help but laugh at her.

“I think you’re more excited to see Maxie then you were when you saw me,” I pouted playfully as I turned the engine off.

“Oh Jordan, don’t be jealous, it doesn’t suit you,” Arizona tutted.

“Well come on then, let’s get this over with,” I sighed, getting out of the car. Arizona followed me up to the door and could barely contain herself from jumping up and down when she heard Max barking on the other side of the door. Michael opened up the door and Max came charging out, knocking me over to lick my face.

“He heard your car down the street,” Michael said smiling. Arizona was just standing there watching us with the biggest smile on her face. Max stopped licking my face and looked at Arizona, tilting his head.

“Where’s Mum?” I whispered to him. He looked at me then back at Arizona before jumping up on her and knocking her over too. His tail was going a million miles an hour as he licked Arizona’s face.

“Hey baby boy, Mummy missed you, yes she did, yes she did, mummy missed you,” Arizona gushed, hugging him and kissing his head over and over.

“Michael, meet Arizona, Zona, this is Michael,” I made quick introductions as my best friend gave me a confused look. I just shook my head at him.

“Arizona, welcome, please come inside,” Michael said, ushering us inside.

“Thank you, wow, you have a really nice house,” Arizona said, falling into place beside me again, Max nudging her hand.

“Thank you, that’s very kind. Come, I’ll show you your rooms, or room?” Michael questioned.

“Uh, I think we could share,” I blushed as Michael smirked.

“Certainly, follow me ladies,” we followed Michael into one of the spare rooms and set our bags down, “I’ll leave you to wash up and settle, dinner will be ready in half an hour, just come through to the kitchen. Brad has been slaving away making your favourite.”

“Thanks Mick, we’ll be out shortly,” I smiled.

“Who’s Brad?” Arizona asked sitting on the bed. Max jumped up and laid next to her, his head on her lap.

“Traitor,” I glared at him, he just closed his eyes, “Brad is Mick’s partner. They’ve been together for 15 years or something. Mick used to work with me after you left. He’s in neo-natal and became my rock.”

“I’m glad you had someone you could talk to,” Arizona smiled sadly.

“It’s all done Dimples, let’s just move on and focus on now ok?” I whispered kneeling in front of her and taking her hands in mine. Max nudged his nose on my hands, pushing me away. I looked at him in shock, “Maxie, you need to learn how to share!” Arizona laughed, patting Max’s head.

“Guess he’s worried I’m going to leave again, he never used to be this protective,” she smiled, kissing the top of his head.

“I told you, he really missed you. We both did,” I smiled, cupping her face with my hands and kissing her.

“Come on, we better go have some dinner,” she smiled when we broke apart.

Brad and Michael entertained us throughout dinner and we all retired onto the back patio with coffees afterwards. Arizona and I sat on the couch swing, slightly swinging as we all just watched Max chase nothing in the backyard. I smiled at Zona and she took my hand in hers, entwining our fingers. I felt like I was coming home.

“So you found your sister then?” Michael asked.

“Yeah, it went well. I moved in with her, to help us to get to know each other and deal with everything together, and also so I wasn’t living in a hotel anymore,” I smiled.

“We’re going to miss Max, he was such a good boy,” Brad said.

“He has his moments,” I muttered into my coffee.

“You’re just upset with him because he’s practically ignored you,” Arizona scowled at me.

“Yeah well, I’m the one who has been putting up with all his shit for the last four years, the least he could do was show me his appreciation,” I pouted.

“Aw, poor Jordan, you know you’re his number one, always have been,” Arizona leaned against me and rested her head on my shoulder.

“Yeah, but you were the one he’d run to when he was in trouble, you big softie,” I teased as Brad and Michael laughed.

“Just look at him, he’s adorable!”

Michael and I were left sitting outside while Arizona went for a shower and Brad went and did some work in his office. I patted the spot beside me, motioning for him to come and sit on the swing. I put my head on his shoulder as he put his arm around me.

“So how are you doing kid?” he asked as we swang gently.

“Good. I couldn’t believe it when I found out she was good friends with my sister and her girlfriend,” I said, telling him what he really wanted to know, “but it was almost like we had never spent time apart. We just fell into our old ways with our bantering and jokes.”

“Maybe it’s a good thing, I know you never stopped loving her, and from what I saw tonight, she never stopped loving you,” Michael commented.

“I know, we’re going to take things slow. There’s still so much stuff I need to understand and learn about me, but I’m not going to let her go this time. I couldn’t do that to Max either, he wouldn’t understand if she left again,” I sniffled.

“You know, Brad and I had spent some time apart once, maybe not four years, but 18 months. We just needed some time to figure stuff out. It did us a lot of good. What I’m trying to say is, I think that you both have probably grown and had some time to figure stuff out while you were apart. At the end of the day, you’re sitting here together. The universe has brought you back together, and there’s a reason for that.”

“Yeah, I have certainly learnt a lot in the last four years. For instance, I have a thing for blondes with blue eyes,” I joked. Michael laughed and shook his head.

“You know what I’m saying doll,” he said.

“Yeah, I know. Thanks Mick, you’re the best,” I placed a kiss on his cheek.

“I try,” he laughed, “now go on, off to bed, you’ve been driving for two days. Brad and I will be gone in the morning, Max will be ok, he has his doggy door, so you two sleep in for as long as you need. And help yourself to anything in the kitchen.”

“Thanks, we’ll go out for dinner tomorrow night, my shout, to say thanks for looking after my baby for me.” Michael just nodded and bid me goodnight.

Arizona was already in bed by the time that I finished my shower. I stood at the end of the bed and shook my head at the sight in front of me. Arizona was laying on one side of the bed reading a book while Max lay on my side of the bed, with his head on my pillow and under the covers.

“Well, I’ll just go sleep in the dog bed then,” I muttered. Max lifted his head up at me then put it down again and closed his eyes. Arizona looked at him then me and just laughed.

“Aw baby,” she said putting her book down and holding her arms open for me. I smiled at her and climbed on top of her resting my head between her breasts and let her hold me close.

“We’ve only been back together for a few hours, and already I’ve been replaced,” I pouted.

“Nobody could replace you Lilly, nobody,” Arizona murmured, stroking my hair.

“Hmm, that feels nice,” I said, closing my eyes.

“Max, off!” Arizona said sternly.  I watched as Max just looked at her and then closed his eyes.

“Max, out!” I said and he jumped up and skulked out, lying down just outside the doorway.

“See, he listens to you,” Arizona said as I got up and closed the bedroom door.

“Because I don’t give in to him, you do,” I teased climbing into the bed where Max just was.

“Not my fault I give in easily,” she smirked. I smirked back and pulled her onto me.

“How easily?” I asked huskily pulling her in for a kiss. She smiled into the kiss.

“Are you trying to get into my pants Lilly?” she said, taking my bottom lip in between her teeth. I just moaned, wrapping my legs around hers.

“I don’t think you’re wearing any pants Dimples,” I replied before attacking her mouth with mine. We made out heavily for awhile before I realised we should stop. Arizona’s hands were under my shirt and my hands were creeping up her thighs, it was getting a little too heated. I pulled back from kissing her and stared into her beautiful eyes, “We should stop.”

“Yeah,” she barely muttered, kissing me some more.

“Really, we should. As awesome as this is lady, we said slow, I don’t want to rush this,” I said even though my body was disagreeing with me. Arizona sighed as she realised I was right.

“Come on then, we’ll cuddle,” she said, disentangling herself from me and returning to her side of the bed. Sleep came with both of us smiling that night.

------------------

The drive back to Seattle was quicker than the drive out. We took it turns to drive so we could drive straight through instead of stopping overnight. With Max in the car, it would be hard to find somewhere half decent to stop overnight anyway. We arrived back at Erica’s mid morning the following day. As I opened the door, we could hear moans and groans transpiring from the lounge room. I just smirked at Arizona and let Max off his lead, letting him into the house.

“Aaah!” we heard as we stood at the front door giggling.

“Fuck,” I heard Erica mutter. A few minutes later, Erica and Callie appeared fully clothed both with frustrated expressions.

“We’re back,” I smirked as we walked into the house.

“Your damn dog let us know,” Callie muttered before smiling at us.

“That was the point,” I laughed, hugging her then Erica.

“So how was the trip?” Erica asked as Max jumped up on her.

“Max, down!” I said, pointing to the ground beside my feet. He sat next to my feet, looking up at me with those cute puppy dog eyes.

“It was good, we only fought a little bit,” Arizona smiled, thinking back to the argument during the middle of the night about not filling the car up. Luckily we came across a gas station five minutes later, otherwise we would’ve been stranded.

“Yeah, and Zona screamed the place down the first night at the first motel,” I smirked as she hit me playfully.

“So in other words, you behaved like a couple of children,” Erica said putting her arms around Callie.

“Would like us to leave and come back later?” I asked as they started kissing.

“Would you?” Callie looked hopeful at us.

“No, just go to the bedroom, gee,” I smirked as I walked out the back door to let Max get used to his new yard.

“Too late, you’ve ruined the mood,” Erica grumbled.

“For now,” Arizona smirked, putting her arms around my waist and leaning against my back.

“Something we might need to know?” Callie smirked joining us on the back patio.

“Hmm, nope, nothing comes to mind,” I teased as Arizona giggled.

“Right, well I’m glad about that nothing, that nothing is really good,” she smiled, watching Max chase a butterfly.

“That nothing is super,” Arizona whispered.

--------------

“Dr Hahn, you’re needed in theatre 3,” Dr Bailey said as I rolled around the halls of Seattle Grace. I had been in Seattle for three months now, and had gotten used to the hectic pace here compared to my last hospital. Erica and I had become close, although a lot of the issues we needed to deal with still hadn’t been dealt with properly yet, but I was in therapy, because I promised Arizona. Zona and I were still taking things slow, and went on a date once a week which usually followed with a sleepover at my place, because she liked to spend time with Max too.  But we both hadn’t told each other what we both knew, that we love the other.

“Right, thanks Dr Bailey,” I smiled and took off for the operating rooms. Erica and Arizona were operating on a six year old boy with a heart condition, and I was guessing that was the theatre I was needed in.   I scrubbed in and joined them.

“Jordy, thanks for taking over for Arizona,” Erica said as Arizona left.

“Where’s she going?” I asked confused as I started doing my thing.

“Family emergency I think they said,” Erica said, focusing on what she was doing. I knew I wouldn’t get any more out of her on the subject just yet so I too started focusing on the poor young boy.

Three hours later and we were finished. I rolled my neck to get the chinks out as Erica joined me outside the theatre.

“Think he’ll be ok?” I asked, nodding to the boy they were taking to recovery.

“I’m going to remain positive, come on, we need to go talk to the parents,” she sighed, showing signs of exhaustion.

“Yeah, then I need to find Zona and see if she’s ok,” I said, concerned about my girlfriend.

“She’s going to need you Jordy, be there for her,” Erica said, still not giving anything away.

“What happened? Erica?” I asked, tugging her arm to stop her beside me.

“I don’t know the full story, and you should hear it from her. I think it’s her mum,” Erica said sadly.

“Oh god, not Marie,” I whispered.

“Go and find her, I’ll handle the parents,” Erica said sympathetically.
