Somebody in another thread mentioned the possibility of Arizona having to leave because of a death in the family. What is that is the case and Callie goes along for the funeral but returns a little earlier?

That was my speculation - it would give an open ended scenario for JCap's return. It could also be handled without complicating schedules for guest stars or other cast involved in a story line which is dependent upon Arizona's involvement. It is a clean approach with some potential for C/A drama as well as whatever might affect AZ upon her return.

Unless for some reason Callie is not welcomed by AZ's relatives, or a drift happens between her and Arizona due to something that a relative said. Would love that part since we would have to find out more about AZ's past.

I have mad respect for all of the craftspeople who create a total viewing experience and the wardrobe department chose a lot of gray and black for 7.07...

Don't we often discover on viewing the simplicity of the storytelling on Grey's compared to say my, ahem, unchecked, ahem, speculations? I think you might be pointed in the likeliest direction here. :)

Is there anything to be gleaned from the overall theme of 7.07? The main medical is Amber Benson's estranged father dying (stay with me here as I promise to check my personal preference for the former Willow's world to collide with Arizona's ;). Maybe someone else loses a family member...

The summary at TWoP for the nurse is a bit different. Over there, Crystelle summarizes the nurse as giving the doctor her messages including a request to speak at a conference. The doctor asks if there's a message from her husband.

Could that be either Arizona or Callie? Both are on the rise as surgeons based on the big medicals in 7.06 and Callie is doing awesome things with her research. I don't think we should dismiss sad Sarah at the marina as one or the other. I can't figure which, though.

Btw, I've neglected to properly thank graceoverfire for summarizing the sides. That's a lot of work that is much appreciated!

Over at the dark side the rest of that side has the nurse telling the doctor the kidney patients chart is ready to be looked at. I can't figure out why Callie would be involved with a kidney patient.

The only absolute in casting sides is the type of character cast. A cop will be a cop; a fisherman a fisherman. The dialog is often changed to protect storylines. Like how you alone figured out the cop casting side for the finale was the Chief sneak peek we got and unrelated to an apartment fire. Kidney could be changed to knee. Husband to girlfriend...
