Those two missing years Jack mentioned? Maybe those are the years he spent with Torchwood!
See, that was my theory ever since Torchwood became official. However, Rusty sorta side mentioned in the first Confidential of this year that Torchwood!Jack is post!PotW Jack and that he somehow got off the Game Station and made it back to present day Cardiff.
In all seriousness, I think Rusty and Crew missed the ball on that one. I think it would have been *awesome* to have Torchwood as Jack's missing years. It would have also explained the "no crossover" rule that Rusty has been so gung ho about, seeing as that Jack wouldn't have known The Doctor and Rose, and therefore no angst.
Oh, I like Tooth and Claw better than the last one--not so many plot holes, for one--but I thought that whole Torchwood ending was a cop-out. Surely there must have been a better way to fit in Torchwood than "Torchwood House" and "There will be an Institute...the Torchwood Institute!" (paraphrased) I mean, beat us over the head with it, why don't you?
I DO like your theory about Torchwood being Captain Jack's missing years, though. Would be a brilliant spin-off-but-not-quite-since-technically-he-wouldn't-have-met-them-yet.
I loved the show. It had everything - including naked!Billie Piper (well, nearly...)
And everything tied up within itself, which was nice. The writhers are clearly having fun, although I would have liked to see kung-fu monks doing their Matrix stuff, and the Doctor just oging "Ah... right," and running away in a different direction. That would have made it an A*, and not just an A.
