I've always said I'd stick with Livejournal until it dies, but the limit has now been reached. So, unfortunately, over the next long while I will be transferring my primary journal activities to my Dreamwidth fractured mirror
( Read more... )
Dreamwidth is very similar to LJ and has a built in Importer to pull in all your prior posts from LJ. I messed up with mine by using a second party importer. There's a Loooooong queue for the processing right now, but it does chug through everything eventually. The friending system is a little different, there's two levels, and I'm still trying to figure out how filters work, but if I hadn't screwed ming up using the non-DW importer, it probably would have set them all up on import.
Supposedly DW imports the filters etc., although they naturally call it by a totally counterintuitive name, like all their stuff. Of course, they also supposedly don't double-import entries, and, oh well....
And if you find anything decent to read on DW, please share. Nobody likes me enough to tell me anything.
I haven't found much, but I've been beating my head against this scrapbook issue. There is a general Intro to Dreamwidth and possibly useful links and there's a kind of general muster station/friending meme thing at https://2017revival.dreamwidth.org that will list your identities in both places together or something.
God only knows when I'll have re-checked everything that's imported. I'm following you now though, I just need to tidy up the worst bits before I start giving access, but it's all going to be a long process.
That's sweet of you to say, thanks! This is going to be a long process, and even after that I'll still be on Dreamwidth, in one form or another. All my fic is up on AO3 and it isn't going anywhere. :-)

Can you DM me how it goes? I'm seriously considering doing the same. Not that I journal much anymore but I don't like the new TOU

It's free as well, so it doesn't hurt to sign up and poke around. There are a couple LJ evacuee communities for finding fans and fandom spaces on DW. Here's a pretty comprehensive advice and link list about transferring to Dreamwidth.

I have a journal there, but I'll have to get to it and try to friend you there.
