Dude. That was Samantha Smith. Her hair's not quite as blonde, but that was her. (Besides, she's in the credits.)

Won't say anything else, because it would likely try to tip over into spoilery territory. Will just say:
a) Jared acted the crap out of that.
b) So did Jensen, but that was a given.

Okay, okay. I'll postulate on one thing. NOT SPOILERY, just an assumption. I think Cas's orders from last week include doing things Dean Will Not Like. Letting Sam out and allowing Dean to believe Ruby did it? I think that might be Step One. Also think Cas feels veeeeeery bad about it, and might be tempted to tell *his* Father (or at least his superiors) to Eat Dirt And Die because he cares about Dean. And humans in general.

Dude. That was Samantha Smith

Thanks for the heads up on that, I would have sworn her voice was different and her bone structure was different.

b) So did Jensen, but that was a given.

Well, of course. I'm really pleased by how much Jared has grown as an actor while doing this show. Jensen is a force of nature.

Okay, okay. I'll postulate on one thing.

I'm all bamfoozled at the moment and about to try for some sleep, but I put a seperate spec post up if you'd like to postulate there. As long as nothing is confirmed or denied based on spoilers, speculation is good.

Eta: by which of course I mean "I agree with the possibility of your hypothesis." Must sleep.

Mary looked/sounded different, yes. And I'd assumed, for the reasons you wrote, that it made sense because Sam never really knew her. But! Apparently Samantha Smith just had a baby, so that might have something to do with it?

Shouldn't have changed her voice though, would it? I need to re-watch.

-"I'm busy you sonofabitch, this better be important." I love how Bobby answers the phone. I wish I could answer the phone like that at work. *sighs*

i'm about to be late for work, so more comments later, but for now...if ONLY we could answer the phone like that! LOL!

There was a LOT of O_O happening on my end during this ep.

Gee-sayus, if this is where they leave us for ep 21, I'm even more scared of where they might leave us for the summer *hides in corner, rocks gently*

Now, you notice these things, tell me: is it just me or whenever they film any of the very rare Sam&Dean smackdowns do the cameras go all fuzzy? And we get no clear image? Because I got that impression, but... *ponders*

I did not notice any notable fuzziness... however, if they let the guys just go for the fight scene, they might have been getting in and out of focus range of the cameras and the cameras would have had a hard time keeping up.

Oh owwy owwy owwwwwww. They still love the ever livin' hell out of each other, with their fists! Poor sweet boys. I too, begrudgingly trust Kripke because if I didn't I would go INSANE. Seriously. Deep breaths.

I keep remembering things, sorry for spammy. :) I didn't think that was Original Mary either until I really stared at her good (cause I avoid the guest star credits with the remote held up to my face to block them). And I'll just say that I'm guessing she gained some weight and it just makes her look very different. I know, I broke woman rule #1 Don't ever say someone looks like they gained weight. Sorry!

Her voice sounded different to me, but I don't know, maybe that was an acting choice since she isn't actual Mary but Mary-in-Sam's-Head. Maybe she was a little more de-saturated? That'd fit with Sam's very limited visual experience of his mother, since any photos of her would be from pre-1983, and the majority of his concious experience of her would be in a nightgown and on fire.

I need to go back and re-watch again because I still have trouble thinking it's her.
