Red currants kick major ass.

I noticed that June/July was berry season a few weeks ago at the farmer's market near work, and spent a while picking up red currants and feeding them to all and sundry (and eating a lot of them myself). Black currants aren't bad, but I like the tartness of the reds better.

This week's red currants (and sour cherries) aren't as good, so I've stopped picking them up and am picking up rasberries and sugar plums instead. (actually, I picked up four different varieties of plums tuesday, but I think a bunch of them sold out, since there was only sugar plums (of the small plums) today).

I can't find red currants anymore. The season out here is, like, three days.

Sorrow.

Sympathies. I suspect no red currants here either, but I'm leaving for Britian toorrow so don't care that much. Maybe you got into the Currant season late? I think it may have started in mid-June. Or you could come to New York, where I -know- the red currant season started around that early. (and IIRC, there were currants available in the Farmer's Market last week, I'd just decided they were past their bloom).

Where'd you get the red currants?

And dude, Coffee Cognac?! That sounds oddly yummy.

Whole Foods Market. They probably have 'em at the big one in San Ramon -- I'd be more surprised if they didn't.

I love Yogurt Park.

I think I shall try and assemble that if I get the chance. Only without tomatoes and with feta instead of blue cheese. Mmmm, now I'm hungry. Off to devour carrot soup.

I am a very picky cheese person, I admit.

I can't eat dairy cheeses, so I stick with goat or sheep and pretty much always feta (Wegmans has this Israeli feta...So good!). Also, all the blues taste like mold to me. :)

You know, there were also some really nice peaches and nectarines in the CSA box yesterday, too....

Sounds yummy, except for the cat food/creepy dead stuff.

And I remember this stuff since when, if I'm not feeding you on a regular basis? I mean, I barely remember what I eat from day to day!
