Weird fruit rocks my world.

Last night, for salad at Michael's place, I had:

* White meat chicken.
* Mixed greens.
* White button mushrooms.
* Mixed sliced heirloom tomatoes and sungolds.
* Blue cheese.
* Blueberries.
* Strawberries.
* Nectarine.
* Red currants.

The red currants were the weird thing, and the cool thing, and the world-rocking-thing, because I haven't had them at all in so long, and they were tart and good and the perfect counterpoint to the nectarine and the strawberries (which were very sweet). Oddly, since I'm not a huge blueberry fan, the blueberries acted as a solid binding ingredient; they were sweet but mild, and they made the conflicting flavours of the other fruits calm down and behave themselves.

Michael and Jeanne were both suitably daunted by my salad, which was basically dinner and dessert, all on one plate. (In keeping with the teachings of Gilda Radner, I did, in fact, eat dessert before dinner -- Coffee Cognac frozen yogurt from Yogurt Park.) I was simply pleased.

Life is good. Eat more salads.
