So I begin by saying 'damn'. Please picture me staring at my computer screen in slowly growing horrified realization, eyes going very wide, before making a face and swearing; this will give you a reasonable amount of context on the exact sort of 'damn' we're talking about here. And I feel your pain. I've had several very good names I was quite proud of used verbatim by other authors. I write fantasy, and the key city of my world is called Highmoon...which is evidently a major city in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting for Dungeons and Dragons. I still haven't convinced myself to rename it and the world remains unpublished.

Casey was the lead in Ice Princess -- I think I need to avoid for similar reasons of theme.

I love working in a narrowly defined genre.

Out of curiosity, did you just recently see Mean Girls? or were you previously unaware of the name correlation?

I saw Mean Girls in the theatre, however long ago that was; ohimesamamama is one of my proofreaders on UAS, however, and she just saw it this weekend. So I'd forgotten the name thing until she pointed it out.
