So I begin by saying 'damn'. Please picture me staring at my computer screen in slowly growing horrified realization, eyes going very wide, before making a face and swearing; this will give you a reasonable amount of context on the exact sort of 'damn' we're talking about here. It's a good, solid 'damn ( Read more... )

The problem is that there are thematic similarities, and I'm looking to sell this; 'my theme has some matching grace notes and our heroines are one letter off' is really going to complicate things with anyone who knows the genre, and it's more painless to change her name now than as a 'we will only publish if' clause.

Kara, Teagan, Kaylee (or Kayleigh or Kaylie or however the heck you want to spell it), Tamara, Teresa, Kelly, Caroline (Carrie for short?), Chloe...
I also like the Contessa/Tessa suggestion, though 'Contessa' might be a touch too unusual. Well, it would be considered unusual around here.

Tilly! There's that band Tilly and the Wall. Tilly is very in these days.

If she's named Tara, the reader will spend the whole book waiting for her to get shot.

Kitty is good but kind of cuddly.
