* MEDICAL: I still have back problems. This really shouldn’t be news to anyone who’s been here for more than fifteen minutes. On the plus side, we’ve got me on some new medications that seem to be working very, very well. Well enough, in fact, that my focus has been shot for the past several days because I didn’t know how to cope with the fact ( Read more... )

I went to the comics store yesterday and picked up a few weeks worth of comics. I found there was only one Marvel book in the stack: Claremont's New Exiles. There were two books from IDW, both written by Peter David.

This is a pretty sad statement on my opinion about Marvel's current publishing output.

I am, on the other hand, really enjoying a lot of stuff at DC, especially Geoff Johns' and George Perez's Legion of Three Worlds. I just re-read the second issue last night. The picture of three Brainiac 5s arguing with each other was priceless.

I am extremely happy to hear about the efficacy of your new medication. *hug*

I am stuck in Limbo at work waiting for programs to run in order to permit things to happen which should have happened two and a half months ago, had we not had major hardware problems and the departure of one of my team.

I am however deeply enamoured of what Geoff Johns is doing with Green Lantern, what Geoff Johns is doing with Justice Society of America, and what Grant Morrison is doing with Final Crisis.

I have started writing the second half of The Perfection, the bit where we skip over twenty-seven years and now the protagonist, rather than being an adolescent boy having adventures, is a man in early middle-age, settled down with a family and children, who suddenly discovers the adventures haven't stopped intending to have him. Planetary-scale threats ensue.

I had my steroid epidural 2 days ago. It was definitely the worst shot I've ever had, but it wasn't nearly as catastrophic as I'd made it out to be.

I wasn't even on IV dope.

Anyway, I still have symptoms/pain, only less so. I find this rather distressing.

FWIW, it seems to take the epidural about a week or so to kick in fully (at least, for my husband).

And the epidural? Heck of a lot better option than surgery :-( (yeah, we've got a follow-up consult with a neurosurgeon, 'cause nothing else seems to be helping at this point, short of major narcotics that can't be used during the work day)

Vir is Young Bouncy Cat. Satin is Ancient Cranky Cat. Young Bouncy Cat has figured out that Ancient Cranky Cat's eyes and ears are also Ancient and not working very well. Young Bouncy Cat reaches out with a "does this bug you?" pat of the paw, and sidesteps as Ancient Bouncy Cat sends an unmistakable message that, yes, it does. This message does not make an impact on Young Bouncy Cat. It makes an impact on the space where Young Bouncy Cat was half a second earlier.
