Thirteen wonderful things for a day in June.

Jun 12, 2008 12:17

Tomorrow is Friday the 13th! I love Friday the 13th. Not the movies, the day itself. Thirteen has always been my lucky number, and keeping that firmly in mind, I decided when I was like, six that Friday the 13th was thus my super-duper-ultra-awesome magical day of ultimate luckiness. I have yet to have this declaration challenged in any ( Read more... )

Friday the 13th is also my lucky day - for much the same reason. 13 is a lucky number for me, Friday's are awesome, so together is win!

Which is very odd, as I tend to err on the side of the caution with superstitions - don't walk under ladders, don't break mirrors, etc.

But black cats are lucky, and 13 is lucky, and tomorrow is going to be a very, very good day.

I will, by coincidence, be celebrating with friends and large quantities of alcohol. Purely by chance, mind you. Did I mention that the day was of the win?

It's my lucky day too, but that's more out of sheer cussedness than anything else. :-) Though I too tend to be careful about ladders and the like.

I seriously have to live my life by Murphy's law - if I cover the contingencies, things don't go wrong, but when I assume that things aren't going to go wrong, whooboy, do things spiral out of control.

I have a slightly different version of this--high-octane karma. As long as I stay in the white, I'm fine. The minute I do something that threatens to edge into the grey, however...WHAM! It keeps me very, very honest...

Hooray, lots of good things! Do you happen to know off the top of your head how many points the Fiber One bars are? If you don't, that's cool--I just thought I'd ask because you might already know.

Never mind--I was unexpectedly in a grocery store this morning, so I checked them. 2 points! I now have Fiber One bars. :-)

Hey, Seanan, you need one more tag on this post.

Triskadekaphilia. Or maybe even paraskevidekatriaphilia.

(And I'm with you on the Friday the Thirteenth bit. I've liked the day since I was about six too. Not as crazy about thirteen itself... unless you count the album :)

And wow, somebody else sold a book! *dance* I hope that's contagious.... *EG*

I'm banking on Friday the 13th having some sort of luck powers for me...tomorrow I have what is arguably the most important interview of my life to date, one for a tenured faculty position at the college I currently teach at, and I really, really hope that the day carries a blessing and not a curse. Given that last year, I was hired by another college on Friday the 13th (I adjunct at two places; I'm an academic whore), and my wife successfully passed her MA exams that same day, we're holding out high hopes.

RE your 13 Things:

3) I need to try those Fiber One bars; at present I've only seen the peanut butter and caramel varieties, and those sound lovely.

6) Congratulations on Duckon!

8) I too eagerly await The Happening, if for no other reason than to find out what the hell it is we've not been seeing in the trailers that everyone is running from.

9) Pumpkin rocks.

11) The Bone Room? *interested anthropologist is interested*

The Bone Room! All the dead stuff a girl could want, conveniently under a single roof. It's a super-cool place to visit, and I adore it absolutely.

Ooh. I want. I want one of these in Pittsburgh. You've just given me another reason to visit SF.
