What have you done with the Bad Copy of It? Have you done anything to it to ensure you don't get that nasty surprise a second time?

That happened to me once with War and Peace - I had about 50 pages just...gone. And it took me a week to get another copy, and believe me, War and Peace is a damn hard book to get back into when you've had a week away!
