So, as most of you are by this point aware, I was honoured with the position of Toastmistress at this year's BayCon, the longest-running general science fiction convention in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am *very* excited reading this. It sounds like more fun than any three people are legally allowed to have (carnival rides! whee!).

I have not, to my knowledge, ever had a hotel room with stairs. I have, however, had a hotel room (well, two-bedroom suite) with three televisions. We didn't watch any of them.

I love hotel TV. I like the comforting drone as I'm dozing off. It serves the same function as calling someone and making them talk me to sleep, only I can turn it off without offense.

Next up, Friday at the con.

Now, see, if I'm in a hotel room by myself, then yeah, I turn on the TV to help me sleep. But when I'm sharing with others, well, I seem to be the only one in my immediate circle who sleeps better with noise and a bit of light; everyone else wants dead dark and quiet.

You know, I have been thinking I need to go buy clothes at some point. I appreciate that YOU appreciate the value of cheap clothing.

Ever had a hotel room with stairs before?

I have. A wrought-iron spiral staircase that led to a bedroom-loft-place above the bathroom. We used it to hang all our muddy boots and soggy faire clothes on.

Only one TV but the bathroom was large enough to give tap-dancing lessons in.
