X-chip in this case equals "Stuff-in-my-cupboard"-chip. I've been doing oatmeal raisin cookies, of late, because I have learned that they are the preferred cookie not only of my husband, but of the husband of the friend who hangs out at my place during most week-days. So I can send cookies home with her to give to him. Insert evil laughter here.
"The act of baking soothes me, but it also leaves me, as a general rule, with absolutely no desire to consume any of the things I've made" You have no idea how happy I am to hear there is another human on this planet who feels this way! I have lived in shame for years for having baked/cooked/molded dozens of dozens of goodies for family and friends at holiday time without having more than nibbled the crumbs to make sure they were edible. I feel liberated!

I have trouble conceiving of this being a problem.

I do baking therapy the way some women do retail therapy.
