In preparation for the release of "The Lost Hero" (I can't believe it's only a week away!!!) I've been rereading the PJO series for the 3rd time, and I cannot stress how much I LOVE this series
( Read more... )
I never really noticed this stuff, but thanks for pointing them out. I read through the books really, really fast, so the only things I noticed were the few little grammatical errors. (Riordan spells things wrong at least twice in every book.)
I've noticed most of them, yea. The Dionysus thing doesn't bother me at all because Dionysus was associated with both tigers and leopards in Greek art. And the height of the gods didn't bother me either because they can appear at whatever height they want, so... /shrug. Also when you're not used to seeing people as tall as the gods appear it'll mess with your perception of how tall they really are anyway.
Since they're not plot holes I don't mind so much. It could also be editors changing stuff at the last minute. As for spelling and grammar, I never blame that on the author, because there are always going to be errors in syntax, especially if you have a first edition. They usually get smoothed out in later releases anyway.
He seems to get his timeline confused a bit too. Saying certain things happened two years ago, when it was really only one year etc.
So that I'm clear:
~ TLT takes place in the summer, when Percy is 12 (shortly before his 13th b'day) ~ SoM takes place one year later, Percy is 13 (going on 14) ~ TTC is 6 months on from that, in December, Percy is 14 ~ BotL is another 6 months later, Percy is 14, nearly 15 ~ TLO is a year later, Percy is 15, and then 16
And the short stories:
~ The Stolen Chariot ... do we know when in the series this takes place? Sometime after TTC but before BotL? ~ The Bronze Dragon, right after BotL (although methinks Riordan confused the timeline slightly here) ~ The Sword of Hades, the December b/w BotL and TLO
So basically the 5 book series + short stories all take place within 3 years. Is that right?
