About the suspension of the Battlestar Galactica actors because of the writers' strike.

This power play move essentially forbids the actors from finding work elsewhere while the show's production remains shut down. SAG says that since the terms of Article 61 are breached, actors can terminate their deals and try to find work elsewhere. All of this ( Read more... )

*sigh*

Well, he always does work in the off-season anyhow. He's still probably contracted to do the Who Named The Knife thing in Hawaii in the new year, so he might not get time to shop around much before the strike is resolved.

I don't think Callum is in the SAG? He's not an American actor. I'm not sure what his contract provisions might be -- maybe he can't fight to get out. Maybe (probably) it's a giant pain in the ass when there's another provision for compensation if the series is cancelled. Maybe he doesn't have to do anything at all if he wants to move to a Canadian production. /ignorant

Seems to me this sort of business is the most likely recourse of the day players and randoms. It'd take more for the recognisable faces to jump ship. We'll see.

Gah. The thing is... I am not worried that he won't find work. He always does, right? Maybe not good work... but, okay, that's another issue. Actually, I am not worried about him being bored or starving or whatever. The thing is. I LOVE Leoben. I really can't get enough of Leoben, and he's in BSG far too little and now that? I can see how he gets bored with the whole thing within days, you know? No work at BSG, okay, whatever. Looks like I could do a guest spot in Smallville again instead. Oh, and hey, there's another movie with Nicollette Sheridan. The last one payed well enough so I am ALL FOR IT.

*cries*

Oh no, that's the thing. I think it's all too easy for him to find something else, unlike his American compatriots. He's more than a little bit of an indy darling just on his laurels. There's so much bad TV and dreadful American movies -- I think we forget that he gets and keeps solid parts in Canadian features. So yeah, he could easily move. He's a tad flighty.

I'd be very sad if there wasn't any Leoben past mid-season either.

But maybe it'll work out.

Waah! I KNOW. I mean, okay, independent Canadian stuff. Good. Good. But other American tv stuff? Like, like, Bionic Woman (which is also suspended, okay) or Smallville? Like, stuff they don't use writers for anyway? *gnarls*

And it's... it's just that... even if he is available, they keep editing out his scenes! *flails* *pants* *scowls at Ron Moore*

*breathes* Okay, that was far too much excitement past midnight for me. *eyes bed*

Eek! And I don't even watch BSG.

Callum, back away from the bad movies, now. I hear the golf course is doing special prices for Canadian actors (well, there are only 29 of them, and Hugh sure as fuck isn't allowed after what happened last time) and they want you to model some geeky golf items of apparel.

I wouldn't be surprised if Streets would hire a killer for you for that one sentence alone. Just saying. Be careful out there.

I laugh at danger.

I also smile at it until it goes away to bleach its brain.

Hang on, haven't they wrapped S4 already?

Whut?!! O.O If this ends up being a "convenient" way for them to get rid of another cylon Leoben altogether... nooooooooooooooo! :(

I know Callum will be alright. We might not be, depending on the calibre of the material he jumps ship to (if he does indeed take off). *grumbles* *pets Callum*

Also, if it wasn't a golf hat before, it might be now. I mean, how often does stuff disappear from movie or TV show wardrobes/sets and then appear on places like eBay...or Canadian actors heads while they're putting around on the 18th green? Hmmm. *ponders*

*siiiigh* I hope not? They are done already with more than half of the season. And Ron Moore said, if push comes to shove he would be willing to just tell the rest of the story. looks like they actually have a plan this time around. O.O

And yeah, it's not Callum I am worried about. Then again, BSG got him more exposure within the last two years than pretty much everything he did before. So... well.

Also, if it wasn't a golf hat before, it might be now.

HEE! Well, we do know that he likes to wear a lot of stuff in more than one production... ♥

I'm with anon! I rather doubt CR has a contract with the show, simply because it's been mentioned in some podcasts that he's not available to play the character at times. Wouldn't a contracted actor be required to schedule around said contract? I think it's lucky for us that (based on a few spoilers) he appears to have been available for the front end of S4 ( ... )

Yes, you are probably right. Both of you. :) A contracted actor would be required to be around if necessary. Or so I imagine. And yes, I've heard that too. He seems to be in season four quite a bit. \c/

It's been reported that the film industry has tons of stockpiled scripts to wade through

Oh, I think the scripts may not even the problem. I just think that a write has to be around during the shooting, you know? I think that's the problem.

with the CAD at all time highs
Eek. Okay, that sounds plausible. Hmpf. That would be yet another problem. Dammit.

unless you were to go back to the days when men also wore plus fours
/c\/c\/c\ Tries very hard not to imagine Callum in plus fours. ...dammit. Too late. *sigh*

woods were actually made of wood
Okay, you got me here. Woods? Golf clubs? Wot?

Hee. Once upon a time, fairway woods, as well as the larger part of clubs (ie, shafts) were made of wood. And before you go all chagrined at the prospect of CR in plus fours, some very hot players, historically speaking, wore their plus fours...very hotly. We're talking swoon-worthy (in historical terms).

And also there were all these sexy names for golf clubs...brassie, niblick, cleek. Nnnnnrrrgghh. Just sayin' (one golph whore to the next).

I... think I prefer him in jeans. Really. I mean, I know he looks just fine with whatever he chooses to wear or not to wear, but... well.

And ha! Golf clubs. I guessed right! \c?
