About the suspension of the Battlestar Galactica actors because of the writers' strike.

This power play move essentially forbids the actors from finding work elsewhere while the show's production remains shut down. SAG says that since the terms of Article 61 are breached, actors can terminate their deals and try to find work elsewhere. All of this ( Read more... )

I'm with anon! I rather doubt CR has a contract with the show, simply because it's been mentioned in some podcasts that he's not available to play the character at times. Wouldn't a contracted actor be required to schedule around said contract? I think it's lucky for us that (based on a few spoilers) he appears to have been available for the front end of S4...

Having said that, the flipside is that if he books up a lot of work in Canadian and other productions his availability may be low once/if they do resume shooting the back nine. It's been reported that the film industry has tons of stockpiled scripts to wade through (unlike the TV industry) so production there may not be as heavily affected for a while (although quality almost certainly will be, heh). Also interesting though, there's been speculation that with the CAD at all time highs, American film companies may be less inclined towards filming in Canada because the cost is no longer attractive. The Canadian tourist and film boards are shopping themselves to European and UK productions to make up the deficit.

I think one of the reasons shows like BSG have shut down (and aren't even filming existing scripts) is because the exec producer/showrunners are also usually writers who are members of the guild (def the case with Ron and David) and they feel it's important to maintain a united front (as opposed to taking over the writing themselves).

The hat? You could wear it to golf. I have one like it, and I've worn it in winter to golf, but it isn't technically a golf cap...unless you were to go back to the days when men also wore plus fours and woods were actually made of wood. ;)

Yes, you are probably right. Both of you. :) A contracted actor would be required to be around if necessary. Or so I imagine. And yes, I've heard that too. He seems to be in season four quite a bit. \c/

Oh, I think the scripts may not even the problem. I just think that a write has to be around during the shooting, you know? I think that's the problem.

with the CAD at all time highs
Eek. Okay, that sounds plausible. Hmpf. That would be yet another problem. Dammit.

unless you were to go back to the days when men also wore plus fours
/c\/c\/c\ Tries very hard not to imagine Callum in plus fours. ...dammit. Too late. *sigh*

woods were actually made of wood
Okay, you got me here. Woods? Golf clubs? Wot?

Hee. Once upon a time, fairway woods, as well as the larger part of clubs (ie, shafts) were made of wood. And before you go all chagrined at the prospect of CR in plus fours, some very hot players, historically speaking, wore their plus fours...very hotly. We're talking swoon-worthy (in historical terms).

And also there were all these sexy names for golf clubs...brassie, niblick, cleek. Nnnnnrrrgghh. Just sayin' (one golph whore to the next).

I... think I prefer him in jeans. Really. I mean, I know he looks just fine with whatever he chooses to wear or not to wear, but... well.

And ha! Golf clubs. I guessed right! \c?
