Sounds like you had a very happy day!

Has Melissa Scott said anything about a new Astrient book or story? There's been nothing recent on it on her lj page and I'm not willing to pay a monthly fee (no mattter how small) to read her patreon posts. That whole idea just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe because I'm cheap! *g*

Well it certainly wasn't bad... *g*

I think that Point of Sighs was due out at the end of this year... or was it 2018? And I thought the next Mathey and Lynes book was due out at the other one (either 2018 or end of this year!) I don't think she's mentioned a publication date since then ( ... )

I was rather worried that the person who left the Bakeoff might have had a coronary had they continued. They seemed to cope least well with the pressures of the tent, so it was almost a relief to know they wouldn't be exposed to the rigours of the final. My money's on the ex-ballet-dancer-ex-soldier-trainee-stuntperson to win.

I have the first Astreiant book on my Kindle app, but haven't read it yet. I really must find time to do that soon.

In all honesty I take my hat off to anyone who can wrangle small humans like this. It's something I think few adults do right or even passably (definitely not including me, I'm fairly rubbish at it except for reading to them) but I do know how much it matters. Here's to more happy things, too!

Wrangling small humans is definitely a job and a half! Must admit that oldest small human has just really pissed me off - she's been taking apart A's forest for the parts of it that she wanted. Grrrrr! It does not make me want to add glitter to the playdough ornaments we made yesterday! She really is the most self-centred child I've ever come across - and bearing in mind that all children are by definition self-centred, that's saying something! I have so rarely seen her display any kind of empathy though... *takes deep breath*... On the bright side, I told her to go and lie down on the couch for a while (both girls are so sleepy) and when I turned back she'd taken herself up to bed and gone to sleep!

Here's definitely to more happy things though - hope your things are happy too!
