I think that Point of Sighs was due out at the end of this year... or was it 2018? And I thought the next Mathey and Lynes book was due out at the other one (either 2018 or end of this year!) I don't think she's mentioned a publication date since then.
I've never thought of it as paying to read a blog - I can't imagine that I'd do that either! It's helping someone to have more time to write, with the bonus being that various snippets of that writing are shared via Patreon. I see it as helping to be inspirational to an author that I hope will write many more Astreiant books! It does feel a bit odd, but the world of publication has changed so much, and I do think of her as a very positive writer She writes about people and scenarios that very rarely seem to appear in mainstream publishing, and rather than change what she does to become more mainstream/publishable, she carries on with it. Granted she also writes franchise novelisations, but still, she's also doing a good thing. She did announce a while ago that she was moving her blog away from lj, which is sad, but so many people have done it now that it's not unexpected I suppose.
