Me Me Icon Meme again... and stuff...

First of all, a big hooray cos I finished marking in time - although they've already given me extra, and we're not even at the bonus deadline yet, never mind the regular one... *g* But yeay, officially finished!

Second of all - they missed out the whole Northwest Passage thing from Empire of the Seas, which waah, but still it was kind of a decent ( Read more... )

I love the aurora one. If I move my head or my laptop ever so slightly it seems to move, even though it's not an animated icon.

That first one of Doyle is very pretty! But also very young-looking. Where/when was it from?

Pity about the finger-poking. Does nobody know her? If she doesn't use her LJ she might allow her icons out to play.

Heee for moving heads icons! *g*

The yellow-y one of Doyle was on the Geocities website that's now gone - although I think I've seen it elsewhere since, though I couldn't tell you where...

And yeah, Crimson was properly active in Pros for a while. She'd come to the Scarsdale, and Nattercon and other Pros-y gatherings, and everyone knew her (before I came along too - she was already there when I popped my head up!), and she helped out with Dialj sometimes (did the gorgeous cover to the first Dialj Christmas Special) and she's lovely. But, as some people do, she sort of faded out of fandom for real life stuff, and now I don't know... No answer to emails or texts or phone calls, and of course I worry, but... Short of going around and rattling her front door (which actually I've thought of doing...)... But yeah, it's because I do know her that I wouldn't want to let her icon out into the wide world for anyone to nick, without her permission...

I've just been through my bookmarks deleting stuff that was on geocities - I hope all the good things got moved to new sites in time!! I contacted a couple of friends because I knew AO3 were hosting anything that needed a home - but the word seemed to have spread so one can only hope.

It is slightly disturbing when people simply disappear from LJ but I think both RL and other blog systems seduce people and unless you hear something definite you probably shouldn't worry.

Yes - it's odd though, that people think it's okay to just vanish without a word to people they've called "friends", and chatted to daily sometimes (not just talking about Crimson here, obviously, it's not the first time it's happened!) It suggests that there's a different definition of "friend" on lj (which of course there is, but I know I see it as spilling over into the more traditional definition with some people - but then where does that spill pause, does it go all the way to "friend", in which case surely we don't just vanish from our friends without at least a shallow kind of last-meeting of some sort, where we both recognise what's going on?); secondly it also suggests that maybe some people don't expect to have that tie/link in friendship that suggests you'll look after each other on some level, that you'll be concerned for their safety etc? If they expect to be able to vanish without affecting other people, then - what does that say about the concept of relationships in general, these days? And maybe we should worry - in ( ... )

Mmm - I just love looking at Pros-y icons. I keep thinking I haven't got nearly enough of them myself and I must make some more. Okay, it's possible that's just an excuse to do some capping *g*

I love your northern lights icon too. So pretty. I wish they came this far south more often. Are you definitely going back to Alaska at some point?

Pros-y icons are rather gorgeous, aren't they... I'm not entirely sure there are enough around just now! Please screencap! Iconise! Do clever things! *g*

Alaska... oh, the many-thousand-pound question... I do have a PhD sort of swaying in the breeze rather, half done, and there's the possibility of funding for the second half of it later this year - if I can afford to take up the funding, then I'd end up back in Alaska at least intermittently... But I'm going to have to get seriously financially organised to do it, and I'm not even sure it's possible, what with the need for storage and such... unless I just chucked everything... and... okay, now I'm just rambling! You see where such questions take me!

Ack - whoever invented money has much to answer for - the wretched stuff and the lack of it get in the way of so much fun *g*

I hope you do manage to go back - you sound as though you love it there.

(I'm heartbroken that her lj account just comes up as inactive now too...)

It's Crimson's Photobucket account that's inactive, rather than her LJ. Mind you, that hasn't been updated for over 18 months so it's as good as inactive, I suppose.

I was just thinking about her yesterday - I wish we knew if she was ok.

I know it comes up as saying her photobucket account is inactive, but I can't seem to get into her pages at all... Oh, you're right, she had that huge background thing didn't she - it just needed much scrolling downwards to get there! Yeay lazy fingers turning out to be just too lazy to scroll more than a single scroll!

I wish we knew if she was okay too... I wish I'd turned up on her doorstep last summer, as I kept threatening to... the longer it's left the worse it seems, but maybe I just still should...

Here's another one of her icons...

Actually, you're giving me credit I don't deserve... I made an icon *like* that one, but not that one. :-)
