Mechanics and scientists in Mayfield.. or just anyone familiar with robotics. I have a request. A pair of eyes, commissioned.

...But if these parts wont work for anything taken by the post office... forget it.

I'll... probably visit the post office later.

....I don't mind if someone wants to come with me.

Bring me the parts and I'll build you a pair. Any specifications you like, with better-than-human abilities if you like.

I don't have any parts now, but I'll do some searching. ...Or I'll ask around.

..Red eyes. And to the capacity you can manage with the parts I can gather.

I need gears and springs--things like that. Those would do nicely for a pair of eyes. Red you say...wood and some varnish in any shade you like--I know that wood can be stained to that colour.

...Right. I'll be able to collect at least those. ...Where should I come when I get the parts?

Yes. I am an AI. Or at least I was before they gave me this human body.

My name is GLaDOS. It is very nice to meet you Metis.

I am making myself a new eye. I can build you a pair for the right price.

Someone already offered to do a pair for me just for the parts, so the price is better be a good one.

That depends on what you want them to do. My eye will have several unique features, including nightvision capabilities and a set of extra lenses for limited telescoping or microscopy. If all you want is normal, un-enhanced vision, then yes, it won't be very expensive, but the cost will go up with each unique feature.

Can you add those features to already built and working eyes?

Y-yes, I'm alright. ..I got my body back!

...How you've been?

That's good... well by the way you said it it seems good. You didn't have to give up anything, right?

Yeah but um... about what happened before, we can forget about that, right? I was droned after all.

[He's silent for awhile. Probably trying to resist the urge to yell at you and say 'I told you so' or something like that.]

...

[But whatever. Letting you stumble around town would just be cruel.]

When do you want to go?

GLaDOS will take me today... but I'll go there again. If it's okay, I'd like to go early tomorrow.

...But before that I need every clock and other material sources collected by today. ..For the eyes.

That's fine. We don't really need any clocks anyway.

...Hey, take the telephones too.

N-no, not the telephones! We need those.
