Mechanics and scientists in Mayfield.. or just anyone familiar with robotics. I have a request. A pair of eyes, commissioned.

...But if these parts wont work for anything taken by the post office... forget it.

I'll... probably visit the post office later.

....I don't mind if someone wants to come with me.

Bring me the parts and I'll build you a pair. Any specifications you like, with better-than-human abilities if you like.

I don't have any parts now, but I'll do some searching. ...Or I'll ask around.

..Red eyes. And to the capacity you can manage with the parts I can gather.

I need gears and springs--things like that. Those would do nicely for a pair of eyes. Red you say...wood and some varnish in any shade you like--I know that wood can be stained to that colour.

...Right. I'll be able to collect at least those. ...Where should I come when I get the parts?

1333 Benny Road. Knock and let yourself in--I can't walk at the moment. But I'm happy to stay in my seat and make things so long as I can keep any parts you bring me that I don't need to use. I won't short you, though. I take pride in my craftsmanship.

...It'll take me at least few hours, but I'll come before the day is over.

I'll be looking forward to it, then.

I'll be going then, but..

Umm, I am Metis. And you are?

[Used to being famous, that's who.] Elizabe-theta Buckley.

Right, then I'll see you later.

[After some hours, Metis knocks to the door and lets herself in. She had gotten help to find the way to the house, but inside the house she was unsure where to go. So she listened closely.]

H-hello? ..It's Metis.

..Am I in the right house?

[Theta is laying on the living room couch. There's a bottle of brandy on the table, and she's obviously been drinking, though she isn't sloshed or otherwise out of it with drink.]

Metis? In here if you don't mind, Miss. Please have a seat. [She's wearing a skirt that is hanging strangely over her left leg--like a large chunk of the leg itself is missing. There's also a first aid kit within arm's reach and a LOT of gauze. Sitting on the table is a notepad and pen, with which she has been sketching possible designs for replacement eyes.]

[As Metis was at the moment blind, she was oblivious of all of it. She followed the voice to her best effort, keeping her hand in front of her, to find somewhere to sit on, and to avoid any collisions.]

I have the parts.

[She carefully hold up a basket for her helper to see.]

[Theta hadn't realised that this woman would need her -now-. She held her hand out to brush against Metis' as she got close.] That's my hand, I'll guide you. Come sit on the floor beside me and I'll get to work right away.

[She'd planned to start in the morning, but...this couldn't wait.]

[Metis flinched as she felt the touch, but after the moment of surprise had worn off, she took the hand and let herself be led. Carefully she sat down on the floor, and offered the basket to where the voice had come from.]

Here, I hope it's enough.

[She takes the basket and looks through it quickly.] I'm sure it will be fine. Here... Drink this.

[She takes her glass and bottle of brandy and fills it, then holds it out carefully so Metis can take it even without having to see.] Fitting replacements is a very painful process. I know from experience--I had to have the bones in my leg plated in brass when I was a child. This will dull it a bit... Just remind me when you've drunk all of it and I'll refill it for you.

[She uses her position above Metis to look down at the woman's face, trying to gauge how to go about this.] There's two ways to attach it...I don't think you'll like either, but I'll give you the choice. Either I attach it to the bones around your eye sockets, which will involve drilling and pain, or I'll have to make a harness.

[She smelled the liquid before tasting it.]

..Alcohol?

[She listened carefully to the explanation. ...Yeah, neither of the choices sounded pleasant.]

There are no bones, but that should not be a problem. The mechanism have been made to resemble human in every way, the structure of the face should be the same.

..If the drilling is better for keeping the eye in it's place, I'll choose it.
