I'm sorry for your loss. You're her mommy, you did what you could for her. You made the right decision.
My parents had a cat and the vet said that maybe she'd pull out of it, maybe she wouldn't (she was paralyzed from the hips down with declining health). My father refused to put her down, but he also refused to take care of her. I was 16 or 17 at the time. I fed and watered her from a syringe for a month and gave her baths whenever she eliminated because she couldn't use the litter box. She died in my arms a month later. My mother promised me it'd never happen again, and that if ever we had another animal that was suffering/too sick to eat and potty on their own, that she would take them to the vet for a more peaceful passing.
My heart aches for you and Loaf. The decision you had to make was not an easy one, but I think you did the right thing. I hope that time eases your pain.
And I gave my baby girl an extra squeeze and treat for you. I know the pain of losing a bun, and I never want to take my little girl for granted.
I know it's already been said before, and will be said again, but I'm sorry for your loss. I definitely understand the importance of pets during times of illness - my cats and bunnies have become a bit of an emotional crux for me of late because of that.
I'll also echo the sentiments of saying you did the right thing. We lost our eldest cat earlier this year. She had been declining in health for a month or so, then started passing a massive amount of blood. The vet said it was most likely kidney disease and as she was an old lady (of 17), that it was probably for the best that we let her go. I don't regret the decision for a second and I don't think the rest of my family does either.
