Reason Number 10

Palin belittled "community organizers" -- thousands of Americans who work long hours for little pay in some of the toughest neighborhoods, trying to assist the American Dream that even the poorest among us can pull themselves out of the muck with a helping hand. Palin and other GOP speakers have turned a noble job into a dirty word tonight -- shame ( Read more... )

When they first announced Palin, my thought was: is McCain intentionally trying to throw this to Obama?

The whole thing with her is such a grab for attention by the McCain campaign--why in the world would the mother of a special needs child want such a high stress job? If a woman with a child with Down's Syndrome and a pregnant 17-year-old were the Democratic pick, the Republicans would be dragging out family values arguments, calling her a terrible mother. Now they're arguing discrimination. It's interesting, to say the least.

I agree that if the Democrats had a candidate with a pregnant teen, they would be dragging her through the mud as an unfit mother.

Truth is I don't think that the candidates kids should have much to do with an election, but they keep dragging them out to prove what fit parents and good people they are. I don't agree with the show boating of children. But both parties do it, so perhaps I am over sensitive?

As for Palin's Daughter, the only thing I will say is that she is further proof the teens will have sex and that unprotected sex will likely result in pregnancy. I am glad she will have the support of her family and that her boyfriend wants (or has agreed) to marry her. I wish her a healthy happy baby and a successful marriage.

I don't think she was belittling community organizers. She was responding to attacks where Obama said he has more experience running his campaign than she had in more than 10 years of politics - including being a Mayor and Governor, which is beyond condescending. The truth is, he doesn't have any executive experience. Doesn't mean he isn't qualified to be president, but he shouldn't go after someone about something that he himself doesn't have in spades. It was a bad move on his part and made him seem like the elitist, not the other way around.

Please keep in mind, my views are not represented in either ticket, and certainly don't agree with her stance on social issues by a long shot.

Both She and the former Mayor of New York did belittle community organizing so on that we must disagree.

Neither Candidate completely represent my views either, but when faced with the choice I will choose Obama on election day.

I start teaching on Monday (new kids!!) I am so nervous.

I am thankful that you helped sponsor my class this year. Your donation got the ball rolling for other people.

I just got some of the books I ordered on Friday. It's a collection of folk and fairy tales written at a low 2nd grade level. I am already planning how to use this material with my kids..you should have seen how excited I got when the box came in to the office. I felt like christmas morning all anticipation and excitement.

I am still awaiting my new bookshelf and some other books I ordered, including a personal favorite "Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type." It's a great book that I highly recommend as your nephew gets older.
