FIC: Chiaroscuro

Mar 25, 2013 17:03

For the first time, I'll be posting a fic only on fanfiction.net.  It's probably better suited for the search and find audience there and I assume few on my friends' list will be interested in reading it, if the reaction of my nearest and dearest is anything to go by.  *snort*

Chiaroscuro is the first part of of a two-part series based on Silence ( Read more... )

suspense, drama, t+, silence of the lambs/hannibal

Will it make sense to me considering I've never read any of the books and have only seen Silence of the Lambs?

Not reading the books is a good thing, trust us! I've only read the two, SOTL and Hannibal. It's a weird thing to having dueling canons; whose mistress am I? In the end, I've sort of cheated and just grabbed a few details that rounded out what was seen in the films.

This story veers a bit too much for my taste into repeating everything which was seen in the movies, but it was the nature of the beast. Then the next story will be basically original fic with the characters, so I hope/think it won't be a problem. BUT, I'm not offended if people don't want to read!

And PS, will I be scared? Little Aussie can't do thrillers very well anymore...

Hee. It's a post child thing! Thrillers and horrors were my fav, but now I just think, 'what if that happened to one of my baaaabiiiieeees.'

But who are we kidding? It's Bugs! Of course I'll read!

I'm a big wimp myself! I scare super easy! I couldn't even read The Wizard of Oz or Alice in Wonderland as a child! Much too scary!

Although I have found it much easier to write skeery than read/watch it...

I try to stay out of the 'behind the scenes' side of my fandoms, so I'm just going off my suppositions that Thomas Harris is either the biggest misogynist to ever walk the earth, or hated his readers, or hated the producers forcing him to write SOMETHING, the shock value, or all of the above.

It's a sad state of affairs when Hollywood creators, men, always men, hardly known for their sexual politics sensitivity, give us a more feminist ending than a noted author.

I will admit to being totally skived out when he kissed her.(Considering what else had been in his mouth, ugh)But he hadn't eaten any flesh! He'd only fed Paul his own brains! (Er, Aussie, don't read this ( ... )

You are a big baby! Does it make you feel any better to know it's bad CGI?

I'll take my smiley faces to ff and read it:)
I was in high school when I saw SOTL
I remember watching Hannibal, but I think the two are getting meshed togather in my memory.
I'll have to watch them again maybe:)

I seriously thought, OMG, if Mel gives this a smiley face...I just don't know about that woman sometimes...LOL!

No rewatching really necessary, IMO. The first story basically touches on everything that happened in the movies, then the second one will be original fiction, in a way.

Well I'm glad that I won't need to re-watch.

Now, mind you, I'm not a woman who looks around for some man to open jars for her and protect her.

Lols! I most certainly am, less than a week ago I walked out of my house to get a random stranger to open my jar of apple sauce. He didn't manage either... dissapointed kids.

I liked silence of the lambs, but I never read any of the books and I don't think I ever will. I usually read fanfic for the romance, who do we ship Clarice with again???

Now, now...Calm yourself, Aussie! Why, poor Clarice apparently had a guy who promptly dies in a hail of gunfire at the start of Hannibal. It was obvious in the book, but not at all in the movie. Her firearms instructor from the Academy, if I remember correctly. Hmmmm...Poor Clarice does find herself drawn to older/men with authority...Not a good sign!

That's my problem with writing these stories. I don't consider myself a romance writer, although I hope there's plenty of romantic things in my stories, so I doubt what I write will be romantic enough for true Starling/Lecter shippers or conflicted enough for those repulsed by the idea. (See example: Aussie)
