For the first time, I'll be posting a fic only on fanfiction.net. It's probably better suited for the search and find audience there and I assume few on my friends' list will be interested in reading it, if the reaction of my nearest and dearest is anything to go by. *snort*

It's a sad state of affairs when Hollywood creators, men, always men, hardly known for their sexual politics sensitivity, give us a more feminist ending than a noted author.
I will admit to being totally skived out when he kissed her.(Considering what else had been in his mouth, ugh)
But he hadn't eaten any flesh! He'd only fed Paul his own brains! (Er, Aussie, don't read this)
That was an interesting choice, I admit. One of my 'problems' with Hannibal Lecter is, for this Lover of Old Men, Anthony Hopkins has always been on my top five list of Incredibly Sexy Old Men. Makes it very hard to maintain that barrier of No, Just No. Particularly since, for such a libertine character, the Lecter/Starling relationship plays on what Hopkins has made his bread and butter; repression and not daring to touch the woman. So for him to kiss her...It was oddly unexpected and shocking! There's the other cut, where Ridley Scott had him lick her instead. That would have been such a different read of the moment.
(Poor JM. AH looks as though he's a much better kisser than licker.)

Still my shippy side loves the various things you could explore that would make a straight arrow like Clarice do something like run off with Lecter.
The film did leave hanging thread that a fic writer could weave into something! There's so many tangled motives and impulses for the characters. Do love me some complex people!
